If you have weak hands or arthritis, the Tomcat is really not a bad idea since it is easier to load. Very small and concealable, but all in all, I’d say you would probably be better off with a revolver.
Keltec makes a small easily concealed semi-auto in .32 and .38. I have the .32 which isn’t fun to shoot but has never malfunctioned. Weighs 7 oz without ammo so its incredibly light.
Is there anything in particular that you dislike about the LCP?
I just don’t like the slide that much. Thought I would but don’t. It may also be residual fear of it catching the skin between my thumb & index finger, had that happen a long, long time ago shooting somebody’s Colt .45, maybe a 1911, not sure . . . but it hurt like heck. Guess I should have thought of that before I bought the LCP.

I have the LCR .357! Feels like a hammer smacks your wrist with the mags. ONLY practice with .38 or Special -P and use the mags for defense.
That might break my wrist or forearm. I do have an old Colt King Cobra .357 with a 6” barrel but don’t think I could handle a little 2” barrel .357. Haven’t shot my .357 in a LONG time.
I’m going to sign up for a tactical training class to boost my confidence level. I’m guessing they’ll make me take their basic class first but we’ll see about that.

I’ll check and see IF they are doing the rebates for the LCR laser grips too. Wonder what a good price on the LCR is these days? I saw retail was 525.00.

I read one review that said trigger pull rated @ 9 pounds but it pulled smoother and seemed lighter than that. It was a positive review.
I’ve never ever had a jam or stovepipe - I must have shot over two hundred rounds through it at the range. Maybe your ejector spring is weak.
Where do you find this stuff?
Got the LCP for my daughter and she still has it, although doesn’t like it much. Got the LCR for my wife and ended up trading it. She didn’t like the kick and neither did I. Both guns are too small for my hands and kick too much to hold for a followup accurate shot. If someone has a grip on you, you can empty them both in the attacker’s midsection without too much trouble, though.
Other posters mentioned that the .357 version kicks like a mule - I think the same thing about both the LCR and the LCP shooting 38’s. Even tried cowboy loads and still didn’t like the kick. Looking for something with a little more mass for a carry weapon.
I have put about 2,0000 rounds through mine without any problem. It has a smooth linear trigger pull that adds to accuracy. The stock gel grips make the recoil much less punishing. Shooting standard lot is comfortable all day and +P
rounds are manageable; not bad at all from a 13oz. snubby. Accuracy is surprising, I get 2 inch groups at 10 yds with laser grips. The only downside at all is that the Crimson Trace laser grips are hard plastic and not gel, and with +P rounds they have tore up my web space and not something you want to use for target practice.
I guess I should have noticed that you are a zombie hunter, and thusly are probably well-versed on all gun trivia.
Any good .38 or .357 revolver will probably meet your needs if you prefer revolvers over semis. Another note-if you really prefer the revolver and are comortable with it, stay on your chosen course and don’t let “Experts” talk you out of it
One day you may find an autoloader you like, but until then, carry what you want-it is your personal protection decision.
The LCR has universal good reviews, and the others are good too (SW, Colt, Taurus, Charter Arms)
Do the research-try them when you can and find the one you are comfortable with
I have the LCR .38 as a pocket pistol. With defense rounds you shouldn’t need but a couple of shots to put someone down.

Just purchased the LCR a few weeks ago. We went through three boxes of regular .38’s—no +p’s-—and got great reports from everyone, including myself. My 80 year old dad, who can outshoot us all, liked it, my 20 year old son was impressed and I really liked the trigger pull.
I shot at least 3 cylinders at rapid fire close range—about 10 feet. They all ended up in a dinner plate sized area. I will try some +p’s next time. Hope this helps.
