Good point. Maybe he left the patches as a message to his kids.

“shhhhh .. act like we don’t know so the thread keeps going”

Lol. Besides the great info these columns are one of the reasons I love FR.

I think it’s time to call Homeland Security about this thing.

It’s a clue.

The gold is stored in the air purifier.

I hope we don’t break their servers.
It would be a head scratcher for sure.

Connect some wires to it and then to a little black box, stick it in your bag and take an airline flight somewhere. Be sure to document everything that happens.

“”I think it’s the ionizer gizmo for an air filter.””

They have a name but right now, it escapes me....it does resemble a plate for an air purifier....

“”I know, I use to sell them years ago.””

Same here.....I still have an inventory of them around somewhere - the plates, I mean.

“”Now that FR has solved your mystery, is there an air purifier in your dad’s stuff?””

I was going to ask the same thing when I got finished reading the posts....it’s the logical question. The air purifiers were sold under the name Alpine years ago and then EcoQuest now Vollara...

Orgone accumulator. Do not touch it. Back away slowly. Do not taunt it.

Smartass bait? Stupid joke generator?

I am sorry for the recent loss of your father.

It sure does look like on of those air ionizer things. But with the dab of glue in the middle, one must ask.. Is there an opening in the plastic where the screen is? Can air pass thru the screen? Or is the the screen glued to a solid square of plastic?

I agree with the one poster who speculated that it might be a platinum-bearing screen. Especially if dad had it stored as a valuable, and if there’s not a hole thru the plastic part.

Probably one of those air-ionizer things, but might be part of an electrolytic cell, and contain valuable platinum.

That’s a pre-air filter for a 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton vertical crankshaft lawnmower engine.
As hard as it may be to believe, that particular lawnmower was made of solid gold: The wheels, the handle and the deck. It was impossible to push so they only sold one.
A Saudi prince owns it now. I’m sure he’s wondering where the air filter is and I hope someone reads this post to him and it drives him crazy.

“Is it glued, or melted into the plastic?”

Metal screen or mesh set into a puddle of hot glue.
Zoom in to 200~400%.

I looked for electrical contacts but don't see any. If there was a contact it may have been some sort of ground shield.

The two marks at the top corners appear to be indentations or scratches. The structure is solid, so nothing can pass thru it.

I could never identify it's use from what I can see.

What has been seen can't be unseen :)

It’s a THINGAMAJIGGER and soon the US Department of the Interior, Land, Dohickies, and Other such things (DILDOs) will introduce new regulations make it extremely expensive to operate.
