he was a hero to me. Took on some sleazeball Hollywood mogul/studio in the early 80s. It didn’t help his acting career but who cares? He was married to Dina Merrill, daughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post of the cereal family. Beautiful couple.

I believe he was conservative and punished for it.

Someone tell me if I am wrong. It seems I remember something.

Yes, “Charly” was based on “Flowers for Algernon.”

I liked him in the Mirsch production of “633 Squardron.” The DeHavilland Mosquito stole the show. The love story was blah.

He was politically liberal and campaigned for democrats. But he wasn’t one of those in-your-face, idiot hollywood liberals of the modern era.

RIP, Mr. Robertson. Main movie roles I remember him in are JFK in “PT109”, William Holden’s rival for Kim Novak’s affections in “Picnic” and the James Stewart role in the 1975 partial remake of Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” called “Obsession”. Also, he was married at one time to the lovely Dina Merrill(”Operation Petticoat”, “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”, “The Desk Set”). I need to watch “Obsession” again to honor his memory.

Robertson as CIA Deputy Director Higgins:

Higgins: It's simple economics. Today it's oil, right? In ten or fifteen years, food. Plutonium. Maybe even sooner. Now, what do you think the people are gonna want us to do then?

Joe Turner: Ask them?

Higgins: Not now - then! Ask 'em when they're running out. Ask 'em when there's no heat in their homes and they're cold. Ask 'em when their engines stop. Ask 'em when people who have never known hunger start going hungry. You wanna know something? They won't want us to ask 'em. They'll just want us to get it for 'em!

I just watched 633 Squadron the other night. He carried the movie.

His navigator :”Where’s it hurt”?
Wing comdr: :uh, everywhere”

He was a classy actor, on and off the screen.
