A close friend of mine faced an incident on Friday, in Macon, GA. At a gas station, a young black man accosted my friend (former Marine sniper and recon) with a knife and demanded his wallet. He'd been robbed before and didn't shoot the robber, this time he didn't have his weapon, but still declined to turn over his wallet. The man said he'd cut him if he didn't turn it over, and Greg told him to go for it. The man swung the knife and it got caught up in Greg's shirt tail. Greg punched the guy in the throat, broke his arm, separated his shoulder, face lacerations...and sent him to the hospital.

Agreed, a most happy ending. Not familiar with GA law to a great degree, but would think if your friend had his weapon, he would have been justified in shooting the perp.

No complications. The police arrived, a witness told them what happened (Greg didn’t remember the fight after he started whaling on the guy, he just went full auto on him) and they took care of everything without hassling him about it.

This reminded me of an apropos comment given by a serious karate expert, after just wailing on some drunk meatball who had tried to sexually assault the karate expert’s girlfriend, outside a bar.
Multiple broken bones, etc., curled up in a fetal position and groaning, the karateka looked down at him and said, “Oh, I bet you got you some ouchy places, huh?”
