My favorite karate story is the time my sensei’s wife, a 105-lb wisp of a woman but a 3rd-dan black belt, was accosted as she was putting her groceries in the car. Within a couple of seconds after grabbing her from behind, he had a fractured larynx, a hyperextended knee, and was hospitalized for a week and crippled for life.
I knew one like that. Amazingly strong for her size, and fists and feet like bullets. She joined the USMC as an officer, and was just running circles around those guys. She later complained that they didn’t work her hard enough, and their food was too rich, so she was gaining weight.
