California - Student Punished for Saying .... ‘Bless You’

Its hard to believe but a student at William C. Wood High School in Vacaville, California was reportedly was punished for saying 'Bless You.'

The teacher says the student disrupted his classroom

“It’s not…got anything to do with religion,” Wood High health teacher Steve Cuckovich told KTXL News in Sacramento. “It’s got to do with an interruption of class time.”

Cuckovich reportedly took 25 points off the student’s grade - in an effort to deter other students from saying “bless you.”

“The blessing really doesn’t make sense anymore,” Cuckovich explained. “When you sneezed in the old days, they thought you were dispelling evil spirits out of your body. So they were saying, ‘God bless you,’ for getting rid of evil spirits. But today, what you’re doing really doesn’t make sense.”

Was it more disruptive than a sneeze? No. Move on.

Obviously the teacher has a person issue. No rational person in this culture would make a fuss.

“Cuckovich needs to face a very, very angry father face to face...and receive some wall-to-wall counseling.”

Vaccaville is one of the prime residential towns for those stationed at Travis AFB. (Fairfield is the other). There will be plenty of military student parents willing to take this guy to task. We lived in Davis, CA, while stationed at Travis, which was even worse. Luckily, we didn’t have kids in school at the time.

It's got to do? Shouldn't that be “it has to do”? It's = It is. WTF?

"It's" is also a contraction of "it has."

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

If he would have gotten disciplined etc for saying “f-— you”, the ACLU would be in his corner in a heartbeat.

Locally, (Stafford County VA), the principal that suspended the ‘banana man’ has resigned. At least ‘they’ said she resigned, there was no ‘hint’ of it till she faced the School Board.

This is definitely Liberalism ‘run amuk’, unless they are hiding a lot of facts (such as he had been ‘pre warned’, or he had caused ‘trouble’ before - none of which has been publicized) she definitely over-reacted when threatening the lad with Expulsion after the incident (wore a banana costume and ran across the football field).

Even the kids mother stood up and said “He may deserve some punishment, but surely not expulsion”.

Then, as an extra added attraction, the Principal started confiscating T Shirts etc that were in support of “banana man’, which, naturally brought the ACLU into the fray, then giving it National Headlines.

Not that it matters because chastising a student for saying, 'Bless you', is just repugnant in a 'free speech' society however, the reason for the blessing is during the sneeze the heart stops beating. More revisionist history.

With California, Texas and Arizona going down the tubes with their illegal alien population growing daily.....those coming in no longer see themselves as illegals...they are simply claiming they have returned “home” and or in the muslim case claiming our land for islamification.....and our politicians are enabling all this to occur.

We not only need to take out the trash in Washington..but within our schools and get rid of these traitor teachers as well

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I bet he is a homosexual. ( Just wondering) Are there any underground conservative reporters out there who might know?

And...I wonder if the kid was Mormon.

I used to work with 2 Jehovah Witnesses. They also didn’t believe in saying “God bless you” when someone sneezes. They also gave the excuse that it was for expelling evil spirits. The one woman was quite sneezy, and our patients thought it was rude of us that we didn’t say “God bless you to her”, but she specifically requested that we don’t say it to her.

I can no longer see any reason to send children to these fascist manufacturing plants.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Indeed! The indoctrination camps need two things: Student and money!

Removing the children starves them of students. The result is fewer schools and fewer fascist teachers and Useful Idiot teachers.

Then elect representatives dedicated to turning off the money drip, building a private infrastructure, and finally moving to complete separation of school and state.

By the way, ....It is very discouraging to read how my conservatives still believe that Prussian military-model, socialist-funded, and godless schools can be reformed. Unbelievable actually.

He basically said "It is not got anything to do with religion. It is got to do with an interruption of class time. What a f#*king moron. Is that unchristian enough for a wad like him?

That comment, “but within our schools”, implies that if we could just get rid of the fascist teachers somehow the K-12 education system would be reformed. I find statements like this very discouraging because they reflect a very basic misunderstanding of the **fundamental** and NON-reformable nature of government schooling.

Government schooling can NOT be reformed because it has **always** be corrupt! Why?

—Education is never religiously, culturally, or politically neutral. It is impossible. Therefore,...When government runs compulsory schools, taxpayers are **forced** to pay for a worldview ( religious, cultural, and political) that may be very offensive to them. Students who can not afford or find and alternative are **forced** into a government environment that undermines the religious, cultural, and political values taught in the home.

— Government education is, and **always** has been socialist-funded. Merely by attending children learn that they have a right to their neighbor's money to pay for a tuition-free service. Well?...Gee!...If the voting mob and the threat of government police action can take money from their neighbor for tuition-free schooling, why not a thousand other free goods and services. Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin D. Roosevelt were NOT accidents. They were the result of one to three generations of citizens being indoctrinated to be comfortable with one-world socialism in government socialist-funded schools.

— While our earliest socialist-funded government schools ( mid 1800s) offered up a generic and lukewarm Protestantism, by my grandmother's day ( born 1894) the government schools were godlessly secular with a nod to God in the morning prayer. Today they are utterly godless in their worldview. Children who attend godless schools **MUST** thing and reason godlessly just to cooperate with the classroom instruction.

— ALL government schools ( Yes! **every**one) is a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination. They have **always** been an abomination. Simply by attending every First Amendment Right of children is trashed by government workers. Speech, press, assembly, and expression of religion is controlled by government bureaucrats and the religion of godless secularism is preached non-stop! The government treats children ( whose only crime is to be born,) like prisoners. The danger is that the children learn to be compliant prisoners of the state.

None of the above can be fixed because it is fundamental to the very structure of socialist-funded, Prussian military-modeled, godlessly secular, and compulsory schooling.

Of course ridding the educational system covers all areas....in my opinion it will never change as the very teachers upcomming have been indoctrinated...and this will continue.

But I do think at a local level the parents could have impact...but they will not come together to do so. Life gets in the way.

I sent a message directly to him. I also told him that I hoped he had permission from the parents of the young ladies whose images are on his facebook page.
