Need Help Locating Picture, Clipart or Graphic

Posted on 10/04/2011 9:46:21 AM PDT by Vigilance

Several years ago I saw a remake of the "Spirit of 76" painting. In this remaking of an iconic image the characters in the image were carrying modern day firearms. Seems like, perhaps, a second amendment group may have released it. I have done several searches, to no avail. I am trying to track this down for a friend and any help in locating it or getting a file of it would be greatly appreciated. Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate post as I am usually a "Lurker" and post very seldom. Thank you for any assistance.

Really? I don't see how that is appropriate.

It would be a stretch to change this into modern day weapons.

I believe there was a clip art image and a photo rendition with new people...one of the 3 carried a flag or drum and the other 2 had Ar-15s or similar. I wish I could remember more.

Here's FReeper Doc Rock's rendition of a slightly different set of circumstances at Lexington Common, April 19, 1775. Click on it for the hi-res version.

Saw this while I was searching. It's a tough one to find a more modern version of "The Spirit of 76". What do you think about the highlighted area of this image?

That battle would have turned out differently. LOL

There is a rather well-known alternate history novel called Guns of the South in which time-traveling South African racists supply RE Lee with large numbers of AKs plus ammo. Which as you might imagine, results in a Confederate victory.

Yep, a Harry Turtledove yarn. There's a less well-known Science Fiction alternative history in which the postwar US cavalry is better equipped with repeating carbines, but the Aboriginies have developed heavier-than-air aircraft.

And then there's my twisted history, in which General George Patton, about to return to the US after being relieved of command of Third Army, hears the news of the crash of Ike Eisenhower's transport plane, with most of his headquarters staff aboard. That changes things around just a tad.

I like the things Harry writes about.

I just wish he was a better writer.
