Kanye West visited Occupy Wall Street in a $355 Givenchy shirt topped with wearing gold grills and chains.
Alec Baldwin claims he supports Occupy Wall Street, but makes big bucks starring in commercials for Capital One Bank.
Numerous other celebrities who annually pull in multiples of the average American salary also say they sympathize with the plight of the so-called 99 percent.
So are the stars who say they support the Occupy Wall Street movement some of the causes heroes, or are they hypocrites?
Producer and hip hop mogul Russell Simmons, who brought West to the protests at Liberty Square/Zuccotti Park on Monday, and who has personally been visiting the protests every day for the past 15 days, tells Fox411.com that people need to stop criticizing Kanye and focus on the issues.
This is about the money in Washington, the whoring and the politicians, Simmons told Fox411.com. Kanye did a good thing. I saw all the complaints about him. Who cares? He came. He wanted to help. They all missed the point.
Indeed, the protesters themselves cheered for West when he arrived, and claim he energized the group even further.

Obama has only been right about one thing... "Kanye West is a Jackass.
Simmons, continued, "This is not about OUR money and whoring, this is about THEIR money and whoring."
Hypocrites. Here is a letter I sent to the NY Daily News. I hope they print it.
“The throng of people at Zuccotti Park never cease to amaze me. They are protesting the “evil” rich on Wall Street but not one peep from them about the inflated salaries of sports figures, rock stars, rappers and Hollywood actors. Maybe they should take their act on the road and set up camp in front of Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden and points west.”
I do not believe the occupiers or anyone else have issues with being wealthy, that’s not the point. The point is that everyone have a fair chance. It’s the greed and corruption that hold us hostage. The ‘inflated salaries’ are based on performance and we hold the key to that, those salaries are based on performance and in most cases well earned, yes I agree they are way over payed to my liking but it’s not greed that gets them the money. Just like a lot of business men and women who are well paid (or overpaid) you work hard you earn it. This movement, to me, is more about those who are basically stealing from us. Just saying that’s my opinion
Kanye and his wealth is not the focus here. It’s the greed and manipulation of our government and other large corporations and their CEO’s. I think by blasting Kanye you discourage others from joining the movement and bringing more attention and respect. Just saying from my point of view
Money, it’s a crime.
Share it fairly, but don’t take a slice of my pie.
