Dallas police are on the lookout for a man who could face assault charges for throwing a frozen armadillo at a 57-year-old woman near Dallas.

The woman, My Fox Dallas-Fort Worth reports, met the man in a parking lot to purchase the armadillo carcass, which she planned to eat.

During a fight over its price, he hit her with the animal in the leg and the chest, leaving bruises on her body.

I wonder how much a frozen armadillo goes for these days. Could be a way to earn a bit of money...

I thought Willie Nelson was the only person who eats those things.

Only reason Texas doesn’t fall into the Gulf of Mexico is because Oklahoma sucks.

If he really wants an Armadillo, he could camp out in my yard and catch the ones that keep tearing up my lawn. I might even pay him for the ones he catches.

I’m willing to bet this has never been filed on a police report in the entire history of the human race.

Bad thing is that armadillos can transmit leprosy to humans.

True.

But that's why you have to make sure they are well done. No medium rare 'possum on the half-shell."

Bottom line...it was probably one of our resident(or illegal) aliens from south of the border..Hint in article here:

“Eating armadillos is not widespread in Texas today, although it has been popular among south-of-the-border residents for more than a hundred years.”

There you get the politically correct clue dropped in the article. See how that works?

So did I -- before my daughter (a Physician Assistant) told me about the leprosy that has now infested the armadillo population.

My guess is that the danger would be in handling and butchering it -- not after thoroughly cooking it...

For a real clown act, I sometimes release my granddaughter's 120-lb Husky/Lab mix after one he has alerted us to in the yard. About the time the dog catches up to him, the 'dillo will duck, reverse directions and scamper back between the dog's legs. By the time that lumbering beast of a dog has braked and reversed directions, the 'dillo has hot-footed it a long way toward cover. After two or three quick course changes like that, the 'dillo most times has made it to safety, and I have quit laughing enough have the dog leashed again.

A couple of times, I have seen ol' "Balto" "lose it" on the dewy grass on his turnarounds and go tumbling out across the yard -- but, if he ever catches that critter, you can hear the "CRUNCH!" clear across the yard...
