Terra Nova is about to get wilder. After experimenting with a couple stand-alone episodes, Fox’s dino-drama is taking a more serialized path for the rest of the season — solving key mysteries, introducing new dinos, and even killing off a character. (Don’t worry, we won’t say who.)

I’d like to know how 140 years from now the most effective weapons are versions of 9mm pistols and M4s. And why these weapons couldn’t kill a dinosaur when the teens were cut off outside the wall.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the young soldier trying to court the oldest daughter the old fashioned way.
And the Dad’s reply “You know I carry a gun, have a hot temper and carry grudges forever, right?”.
It’s clean and for once the dad is not an idiot and the kids aren’t smarter than the parents, that’s refreshing.
He also played the bad guy ‘Party Crasher’ in “The Hard Way”. While it has a typical weasel role by Michael J. Fox, James Woods has some awesome scenes in it. Otherwise, it is a pretty forgettable movie.
I’m still trying to decide if I like Terra Nova or not.

They still use money in the colony, and referenced getting a job to earn some money.
though I am worried that they assume it is a alternate timeline because the probe “failed to report back”. How do they know that 300 years from now in the colony someone doesn’t dismantle the probe for parts due to some unforseen crisis?
85 million years is a LONG time. If thery wanted a good probe, they would have sent a probe to the moon, they would not have worried about it breaking down and degrading inthe weathering factors on earth. All they would have to send through would be a rocket that could launch ir through their portal, if they can send vehicles, they can send a rocket and moon probe through.

As a side note, I've got a Comcast DVR and have this program set on series record. Unfortunately, instead of starting the recording process when the program starts, it starts recording at the normal start time of the program.
About two weeks ago when the Tigers were playing the Rangers, the game was delayed due to rain causing the game to run into the time slot of Terra Nova. Since my DVR started the recording process on time, I ended up with the end of the baseball game and only about the first 20 minutes of the Terra Nova program..........
Who and what are the “sixers”? I guess I missed the episode which obviously introduced them.......
I wouldn’t be quite so hard on them. Any fiction requires the willing suspension of disbelief at some level. It’s not that the probe didn’t report back, but that it never showed up 85 million years later. A reasonable test of the wormhole, actually. You just have to believe that they devised a probe that was somehow likely to survive that long. A tall order, to be sure, but some clever folk might figure it out. Sending through a rocket capable of getting to the moon would be a monumental project, and not really feasible.
I’m pretty sure, though, like others have said that the “alternate time line” will turn out not to be.
I too am getting pretty tired of the whole “mankind ruined the earth” meme. I’ve decided to ignore once again, like with FireFly which turned out to be awesome, and just sit back and enjoy it.
I think a rocket and moon probe is a bit much to be sticking through a blind wormhole, have you looked at a NASA launch platform lately? Not to mention the timing problem, if you don’t know how far back the wormhole leads you don’t know how far away the moon is, so working out the thrust from orbit to make the slingshot is basically not possible. They might have a plothole there for your solution is much worse.
I’m not sure the probe really did much of anything, except count time. Also there’s indications that it really isn’t an alternate universe, but that it was just the line sold to people.

The “sixers” are people that came to Terra Nova on the sixth pilgrimage, some of whom splintered off and left the main compound to live on their own. We don’t know much more yet about why.
I think the latest group to show up, with the cop and the doctor family, is the tenth.
They can determine the distance using a conventional telescope and some math since we already know the actual size of the moon this should be child’s play, mathematically speaking. As for the rocket, they sent land vehicles through the rift, a rocket in sections would be able to make it through, some assembly required of course, but they are already sending smart people through.
Of course the moon should only be about 149KM closer to earth 85 million years ago. That is not that much further than it is now. (stupid first episode miscalculation).

That means putting people there. The point of the probe (of any probe) was to find out about the other side of the wormhole WITHOUT sending people. Also trying to have as little impact as possible in case monkeying around there actually does wind up changing history, if you’re going to send a whole bunch of people to assemble and build a rocket you just invalidated the test.

That's pretty much what I do and just hope a series runs to a logical end without being terminated.......
My philosophy is that any series offered up for run on any of the networks should have a reserve episode available that offers a credible ending in the event the series is terminated by the network.

And the theory of the probe was to send it back to decide whether or not to send back people, since it initially goes back without people there’s nobody to sabotage it. Of course then you use that information to then send back people... that’s the fun of time travel anything you do in reaction to your results immediately invalidates your results. The uncertainty principle really comes into it’s own when you throw time travel into the mix.

I think we can both agree Time Travel makes our heads hurt, LOL.
Which in the long run is why it will never happen. The first person to figure it out will have their head explode. It’s a good source for nerdly discussions though... hmm gotta e-mail my partner in convention programming crime, I think I have a panel for next year.
