There were actually other very good actors in that movie...not including Keanu and Winona who stunk the joint up.

No mention of In The Mouth of Madness so far. A John Carpenter movie, scary as Hell. Lots of psychological stuff but some gore that I thought was unnecessary.

For those of you who know who H.P. Lovecraft is, this is the best homage to his work. None of it is off a direct story, but it is a well made scary movie that uses a lot of Lovecraftian elements. Oh, and if any body asks you if you like Sutter Kane, the answer is YES!

One of the best scary movies ever....and you *never* see what “it” is that’s freaking you out.

That’s just seriously good film making.

The movie was based on Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House”.

That woman could write creepy!

Here’s her “The Lottery” short story.

Some messed up stuff.

:)

I would easily rate Lovecraft and Virginia Wolfe as the scariest authors in the history of the English language.
And even though no one would consider him a “classic” author, Steven King had some pretty chilling stuff...

Saw that, hoping for greatness. It was...insofar as movie technology & technique lacked about a century between production and my viewing. A great film for its time, but time has moved on.
