I bet ancient aliens dude will.make an appearance.
I would rather watch the SyFy channel Thanksgiving, which involves a lot more pro wrestling than you would otherwise suspect.
I’m glad to see SP go after the History Channel, I can’t stand the lack of shows about actual history on the channel. It has gone the way of MTV into the realm of network decay.
But, 'splain to me EXACTLY what "Ice Road Truckers", "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers" has to do with history?
Beyond making the channel's viewship history, that is.
“alien technology’
Cartman to get the alien anal probe again? hehe.
Because you won't watch a dry boring show about the Ming Dynasty, but you will watch Rick Harrigan wheeze laugh about a counter offer for an 1835 pistol.
They could at least try to combine it. Reality show about how 20 people and see if they could live like ancient Romans or something.
Or see how hard it would be to make one of the wonders of the world with today’s technology.
As a history major who took a few classes on Chinese history, I would find a show about the Ming Dynasty to be exciting and intellectually stimulating.
It’s reassuring to know that there are still “South Park” fans on FR. Things have gotten pretty serious around here lately.
IRT? Yah got me. I haven't the foggiest.
I wish the History Channel would return to being “The Hitler Channel”, as before.
And maybe even Starvin' Marvin. {click, click!}
They are actually filming and PRESERVING today’s history by getting the adventures of the Ice Road Truckers on film. In 10 years the U.N. will abolish trucks. but it will be too late, and in 12 years Alaska won’t have any ice due to global warming.
(Okay, I just made that stuff up about the ice...)
I wonder if the cast of the Faux Top Gear will make an appearance..
or Top Gear..
Thanks.
Shouldn’t the title be “Cartman Hates Romney”?
;)
I was just watching last weeks episode again. I hope the fleabaggers did when they went home for a few hours to shower.
Moral of the story: grow up. Ditch your stuffed animals and be an adult.
Fake indian lecture. LOL
“Where the truth is history!”
You nailed it. Did you co-write this episode?:-)
The Pilgrims were aliens!
You got the MTV comparison before the episode even aired. Wow.
Stuffing wars!
Stuffing shortage!!!!
“Natalie Portman knows stuffing!”
hehe.
Kyle of Devry Institute.:-)
No stuffing on Thanksgiving is like no football. That happened to me once. Horrible memory. Damn aliens!!!!
She has to open her wormhole!
“Open your wormhole”
don’t let the mods see this one!
I used to love History Channel when it first came on.
It was fascinating stuff. I guess the ratings weren’t good enough for the advertisers with shows on the Ancient Egyptians.
So they switched to as another FReeper accurately described as the Hitler Channel. I enjoyed WW2 documentaries too. Nobody else did apparently.
They figured out that the real ratings come from appealing to the lowest common denominator. Aliens and ghosts.
Ka-Ching!!!
Uuuhhh, you just like, told them butthole.:-)
I was sad they didn’t parody the crazy guy with the crazy hairdo on ancient aliens.
<I wish the History Channel would return to being The Hitler Channel, as before.
Oh, I think it can still be called the ‘Hitler Channel.’ I’ve been watching ‘Nazi Collaborators’ over the past few weeks. Pretty interesting stuff; I had no idea about the IRA and Germans. And while I’d heard that the Latvians were terrible anti-Semites, seeing their atrocities (thank goodness for the need of Nazis to film practically everything) was mind boggling.
I miss those days. Every possible documentary about Adolf and the gang all the time it seemed. H2 (formerly HI) has gone south some too recently. I miss my Naked Archaeologist, Vanishings, Tales Of The Gun and Wild West Tech at normal hours.
Me-TV is one of my main channels of choice. Since I work evenings, I can get my morning Perry Mason, Cannon, and 5-0 fix.
A lot like the sister network of A&E. Loved that channel years back.

I’ve enjoyed those shows as well but it’s not on the History Channel it’s on the military channel which is owned by Discovery I believe.
History 2, formerly History International still does carry history focused shows. (They are the equivalent of MTV2, here). It's also all WW2.
Oh, contraire, i'm afraid. Those shows are the biggest hits on History Channel and have boosted their bottom line considerably. They've actually cracked the Basic Cable Top 10 ratings list for the first time on their strength.
The problem is that all the cable networks are chasing the same middle-of-the-road, lowest common denominator audience. Reality programming is cheap to produce (not that the History Channel's formula of stock footage and voice over was very expensive), and draws a bigger audience than niche fare. Which is why you can't find history on the History Channel, science on Discovery, science fiction on SciFi SyFy, courts and criminal justice programming on CourtTV TruTV, music on Music Television or Video Hits 1 MTV or VH1, or classic movies on American Movie Classics AMC.
I miss my niche channels.
I'm afraid that's what you get with an advertising-based media landscape. There's no incentive to pursue the niche audience because the advertisers don't find enough value for their marketing dollar in them.
