is this the one to which you were referring?

Interesting conversation, but...

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Reminds me of a history test I flunked. One of the questions was who was interred in Alexander the Great's tomb.

I guessed Socrates.

The LORD of The Bible does and will consume away the wicked even as your pictures show:

Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Psa 58:7 Let them melt away as waters [which] run continually: [when] he bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

Psa 112:10 The wicked shall see [it], and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Eze 22:20 [As] they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt [it]; so will I gather [you] in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave [you there], and melt you.

Just curious about that particular sequence in Raiders - if the fire is hot enough to melt human flesh, why does this fellow's hat remain unscathed?

It is being looked into by top men.

History seems to report that there were also fake arks. The real one is in heaven.

Rev 11:19 ¶ And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

The Romans would not have found the Ark, as it disappeared when Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Solomon’s Temple. Herod’s Temple never contained it. When the Romans under Titus entered it in 70 AD, the Holy of Holies was empty.

some parts of the bible are so full of bronze-age-folks trying to describe stuff they didn’t have the vocabulary for (but we do) that it seems likely a fair amount of it is directly derived from some kind of history, and that is ignoring archaeological finds which verify various parts of the old testament.

didn’t the ark fade from reference in the old testament after the babylonians conquered israel? (rough on that part of history but have read this in the past).

The philistines seemed to have gotten a darn good dose of radiation when they tried to take/keep it.

I never said those (plural) in Axum were the real deal. And to me, it is not important where it is. At the right moment, God will see to it is where it should be.

The hardest thing for man to understand is he is not in charge. Ultimately God is in control. Men are not generally very humble, but there are moments that some of us understand.

As Frederic Bastiat described it (in political sense) the “seen” and that “not seen”. Being “not seen” does not make it less real.

The Bible is already established History. Just one small example from the Book of Daniel, which was thought to be a complete work of fiction for a long time by 'scholars':

The Book of Daniel lists Belshazzar as a king over Babylon when the handwriting on the wall incident occurred and Daniel was called to translate ... Belshazzar promised Daniel he could be a ruler (third in line or second in line, can't remember the particulars) in the land if he explained the writing. For Belshazzar to be able to promise that he would have to have been king in Babylon. For years 'scholars' slammed the reference since for Belshazzar to be a Babylonian King was not in the known registry. But at the turn of the nineteenth century a ruin of a tower in Babylon was being excavated and a 'time capsule' was found (a fired clay tube with cuneiform writing upon it) placed there by the Babylonian King at the time the tower was 'improved/strengthened'.

The dedication was from the King and his son, Belshazzar. Belshazzar's father had married a wife of the previous King, Nebuchadnezzar, so he became a king via her Queenship, thus his son was King in Babylon when he was out of the city fighting the Persians(?).

None of those verses are discussing a literal melting as portrayed by the moviemakers.

The Hebrew word translated “consume away” in the KJV of Zechariah 14:12 refers to flesh *rotting*.

The Hebrew word translated “melt” in the KJV of Psalm 58:7 means to reject or despise.

In Psalm 112:10, the wicked is gnashing his teeth because the righteous man is being rewarded for his honesty; all his plans and desires are being destroyed because of the fruit of the work done by the righteous man. This is a metaphorical use of “melt” to depict how the desires and plans of the wicked man are slipping through his grasp.

Ezekiel 22:20 speaks about the judgment which the people of Jerusalem will suffer for their sins. A metaphor is being used here to describe the judgment that the people of Jerusalem will endure. The point is: get rid of your dross (or slag, depending on the translation used)!

The tomb of Alexander the Great would be a tremendous find by itself. It is one of the world’s great mysteries.

So is the location of the lost Ark.

And now we are to believe the Greeks found both on an island.
