As a fellow orphan, I’m very sorry for your loss.
Ronald Reagan said that Marines never have to ask if they made a difference.
My father was in the Marines from 1936 to 1958 and saw combat in WWII on Guam and Okinawa. He was sent to Korea in 1954 after the armistice. I have a photo of him with Gen. Lemuel Shepherd, taken in Korea, hanging on my living room wall. When he passed away in 2010, we tried to have the Marine Corps hymn played at his funeral and were told that was not allowed (we were told that the Navy song was allowed but we turned that down), but we sang it at the graveside ceremony.
