Here is a chili sauce that I have made a couple of times...it’s from the Ball Blue Book of Preserving and I think it will be close to what you are after:
Chili Sauce (yld 6 pints)
4 quarts chopped, peeled, cored tomatoes
2 c. chopped onion
2 c. chopped sweet red peppers
1 hot red pepper, finely diced
1 c. sugar
3 TBS salt
3 TBS mixed pickling spices
1 TBS celery seed
1 TBS mustard seed
2-1/2 c. cider vinegar
Combine tomatoes, onions, peppers, sugar & salt in large saucepot. Simmer 45 minutes. Tie spices in spice bag and add to mixture. Simmer until reduced by half...stirring frequently as it thickens....splashes all over the place, and generally makes a mess of your stove (my editorial comment...LOL!). Add vinegar and simmer until it reaches your desired consistency. Remove spice bag.
Ladle into hot jars leaving ¼ inch head space; cap, and process 15 minutes in boiling water bath.
Mmmm, sounds great. I have a BUNCH of Brussels Sprouts that I think will get cooked tonight.
Cute hats! Thanks for the link as I hadn’t seen them.
That sandwich sounds dandy, too...(slurp...)
Thanks!
I heard of a weird sandwich last night....mash potato and cheese sandwich on toast....sounds...a-hem...interesting:>)
- just looked to see if there were any recipes on the net...and there are....who knew?
http://www.food.com/recipe/bacon-and-mashed-potato-sandwich-84236
OK - it’s got bacon in it - it must be great :>)
Well, the presence of bacon excuses pretty much everything...but I’ll leave **that** sandwich to you. (blechhh)
I was just reading about one like that that also has a polish sausage in it. Called a Junkyard or something.
I like mashed potatoes, but, I’m not sure about putting them on a sandwich. I know there are hot beef sandwiches with the potatoes on the side, but that’s not quite the same thing.
Instead of mayo try 1000 Island Dressing. One Thanksgiving night when we were raiding the fridge, HORROR! No mayo nor even whipped salad dressing! After that, we ensured the fridge was properly equipped every Thanksgiving, with 1000 Island Dressing.
That sounds like a plan!....Thousand or Russian would be great in that sandwich....a Turkey Ruben with stuffing instead of sauerkraut :>)
Speaking of yummy delish sandwiches, I got the ‘Howie Carr’ with mustard at Micheal’s Deli - it was heaven. Next time you’re in Btown - check it out.
Hello, just cooked up your cranberry/chambord sauce. I’ll let you know how it turned out.
I just made these for the first time.. very delicious and addictive! I used ghiradelli chips.
Kix Peanut Butter Chocolate Crisps
1/2 cup (130 grams) peanut butter
1/3 cup (63 grams) granulated sugar
1/3 cup (65 grams) packed brown sugar
1/3 cup (75 grams) butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) baking powder
1 egg
½ teaspoon (2 ml) vanilla
4 cups Kix cereal (100 grams)
3/4 to 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Stir peanut butter, sugars, butter, baking soda, baking powder, egg and vanilla in large bowl until well mixed. Stir in cereal and chocolate chips.
Shape dough by rounded tablespoonfuls into balls; place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely. Store loosely covered. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
It was good! Really set up nicely, liked the way it looked and thinking it would be great in a cranberry cheesecake.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Let me know your guest reactions.
Don't forget the Vanilla Ice Cream.

UNO’s served a potato pizza, which was tasty. Mashed potatoes in a crust with sour cream, cheesw and IIRC green onion on top. Yummy.
They sold it as an appetizer but with salads it was a meal for 2.
Well, that turned out well! Took longer than 35 minutes to raise, but they turned out great! Thanks for answering my questions. :o)
