You're quite welcome, Jaycee! The song has always resonated strongly with me. I liked the movie and its portrayal of the military - the movie was made, IIRC, in 1953 - almost 60 years ago. You could never see its like out of Hollywood today. An earlier, happier era.

Patience is the key word. That's a lot to learn but hopefully it will go as well as the snow thingy! Thanks again for your help in that one. :)

Those are the kind of movies and music that made us the people we are today. We never tire of seeing the movies or hearing the songs. I guess thats why they are so sentimental to me as they remind me of the “good old days.”

I was recently thinking of how I so enjoyed all the musical programs on t.v. in the earlier years with Andy Williams and family and Bing Crosby and family.....those were the things that brought Christmas to us and made us have that happy feeling. And all of them were glad to present the Christmas story.

One of my gifts to little Braelyn (who will be 2 in March) is a book with sound. Its a Charlie Brown book and they tell the story of the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And at the end of the book, they all sing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the Newborn King”. I fell in love with that book and Braelyn already loves books.

What a lovely gift, Jaycee! It's hard to compare the Christmases of today with what we had as children. Perhaps I look at my childhood Christmases though crystal spectacles. We were not rich, but were not preoccupied with material things. We always had a happy time regardless of how much we found under the tree. Today, people seem so concerned with material things that I don't see how they can understand what Christmas is about.

End of rant. I hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It means...”great minds think alike”. Not sure it’s texting talk...I just use it because it takes less time to say. LOL!
I do text some, but have a full keyboard on my phone and like
to ust complete sentences. I have a friend who fusses about that. LOL!

I love our ornaments that were made with such love just for us! :)

Christmas Journey

December 18, 2011

How far is it from Nazareth to Bethlehem? If you’re in Pennsylvania, it’s about 9 miles and takes about 10 minutes by car. But if you’re in Nazareth of Galilee, and you’re traveling along with your pregnant wife, as Joseph was, it’s about 80 miles to Bethlehem. That journey probably took Joseph and Mary about a week, and they didn’t stay in a nice hotel when they got there. All Joseph could find was a stall in a stable, and that’s where Mary delivered “her firstborn Son” (Luke 2:7).

But the journey for the infant Jesus was much farther than 80 miles. He left His place in heaven at God’s right hand, came to earth, and accepted our humanity. Eventually, He was stretched out on a cross to die, and He was buried in a borrowed tomb. But the journey was not over. He conquered death, left the tomb, walked again among men, and ascended to heaven. Even that is not the journey’s end. Someday He will return as King of kings and Lord of lords.

As you take a Christmas journey this month, reflect on the journey Jesus made for us. He came from heaven to earth to die for us, making salvation available through His death on the cross and His glorious resurrection.

Praise God for that first Christmas journey!

When God stepped out of heaven above
And came down to this earth,
He clothed Himself in human flesh—
A Child of lowly birth. —D. De Haan

Jesus came to earth for us so we could go to heaven with Him.

Read: Luke 2:1-7; Galatians 4:4-5

When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son. —Galatians 4:4
Bible in a year:
Obadiah; Revelation 9

Mine, too, Meg. I listen to it during the Christmas season because its so sweet and touching. I love to post it and hope people listen as I do.

I just listened and watched Joel Olsteen and now I’m watching Dr. Stanley. I am looking at he clock and trying to figure out if I may make it to church today....I will see. If I only felt a little better, there would be no problem for me.
