NY Woman Uses Dating Site to Get Over $1200 In Free Meals

A New York woman is being scrutinized and praised after people learned that she used a dating website to obtain $1,200 a month in free meals.

According to Business Insider, 23-year-old Jessica Sporty was deep in debt. Sporty had difficulties living on her $45,000 annual salary after spending nearly $1,500 a month in rent, paying her credit card bill, and buying food.

So she hatched up a plan and signed up with the popular online dating site Match.com so she could quickly go on five dates a week. Sporty even maintained a spreadsheet with detailed information on each of her dates, limiting each guy to a maximum of five.

Dates took Sporty to high-end New York restaurants, and one of her dates even bought her a $200 bottle of champagne.

“Before I barely had enough money to pay for food,” said Sporty. “After using Match.com I found I wasn’t going into debt anymore.”

-snip-

As of today, Sporty is no longer on the dating website as she is currently in a relationship and most likely freeloading off her new beau.

“It was exhausting,” she said. “I needed my sleep and I was done playing the game.”

Fraud because they thought they were going to get sex after the meal?

Certainly there was the implicit understanding that she was somehow interested in a relationship, on some level. Most guys over the age of 15 know the type.

I could do that, too! I did find a website that makes T-Shirts to order, and tried out a few styles and colors, including a hoodie, but it will have to wait till after Christmas. I may weigh even less by then...

45 with rain now, turning to snow later when it drops a few degrees before freezing.

Is it spring yet?

Jeeze, Girl...I went out this AM and even at 1030, the wind chill was at 23 degrees. I don’t have enough winter clothing for that...

I was afraid the wind tears would freeze to my cheeks.

*sigh*

I’m not equipped for LV winters, even though I’ve been here since 1987...

60 and drizzle here. Bill couldn’t drive to Scouts because the wipers on the purple car were inadequate. They’re going to buy new ones now.

This thread sort of took a weird turn towards the end but after reading through all the posts, not one person questioned why on a dating site, the man would be required to pay for the woman as well.

All these women yapping about women's lib and how they need equal treatment and all that but all of that gets tossed to the side when a man offers to take them out for dinner. They just seem to assume that the man will pay. The women libbers also never complain about not having to register for the draft and they never fight with the man over who gets to deal with the overflowing toilet either, but I digress.

Now I can see the man being expected to pay for dinner if he actively courts a woman in order to win her affections. But we are talking about an online dating site, in which both parties are presumably hard up. In this case, protocol would seem to dictate that at least for the first date, that both man and woman share in the dinner bill equally.

Heh. Reminds me of the interchange between the guy who held the door for The Independent Woman. She fixed him with an icy look and said, “Tell me you aren’t holding that door because I’m a woman.” He replied, “No, Ma’am. I’m holding this door because I am a gentleman.”

Would appreciate prayers Tuesday. Am out of town for a court date dealing with a dispute on the disposition of my FIL’s assets. There’s real potential for things to turn very ugly. Pray we get through, no continuance necessary, and that the black robe in the room is inhabited by a righteous person.

I know!

I was introduced to them over the weekend. If you buy the puff pastry they are super simple to make.

Cut dough into rectangles about three inches wide and six inches long.

Wrap dough around a quarter of a chocolate bar and bake until golden brown and delicious.

Warning: they are addictive. But they make you so happy that you don't care.
