In February of this year my older brother went to the hospital due to severe pain and swelling in one leg. Those doctors could not figure out what was causing the pain and swelling, so they sent him home to see his own doctor. His doctor could not figure out the problem either; mean while his other leg started hurting. He was sent to Houston for yet another set of test; still no results. His doctor and the doctors in Houston tried different treatments (medicine) to treat his pain. By this time he has used up his vacation, sick leave and disability time at work so they fired him. Last month he went to another set of doctors, this time in Temple, TX for more test. They determined he had anmemia and hyper or hyposomething (I cant remember) and asked him to come back this week for results of test and some more testing.
I received a phone call from my sister-in-law yesterday telling me the doctors determined my brother might have Myelofibrosis ~ which if not treated could lead to Leukemia. The ran different blood test and today did a bone marrow biopsy. Those test came back that he has Leukemia. Tomorrow the bone marrow results will determine if the type of Leukemia he has is aggressive or non-aggressive. If non-aggressive, he will receive a week of chemo and have to stay in the hospital for at least one month. My sister-in-law said she went blank before she could hear about what will happen if the Leukemia is aggressive.
Please pray that the Leukemia is non-aggressive and that my brother can be healed with as little as pain as possible.
Again joining your FReeper family in prayer that the Lord’s healing hand continues to be so evident upon your brother, and that those who minister to him would recognize that the Lord still walks among his people.
The Great Physician Now Is Near
The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!
Sweetest note in seraph song;
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung:
Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Lord, we praise Thee for the continuing recovery of Thy servant Tony.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Thanks for the update
This IS the Season of Miracles after all. Thank G-d the treatment is working. May good things continue to happen for your brother and the rest of your family. Merry Christmas to you and yours, time of birth and rebirth, and for good measure, Happy Chanukah, a Festival of the Miracle of G-d’s Holy Light. May G-d’s Light shine upon Tony and bring him home soon.
Still sending prayers.
I really appreciate the update on Tony. He is in my prayers every night. Will he be considered for bone marrow transplants? Please send our love to him.
I’m so impressed with your offer. You have many sides, and this is indeed one of them — a “kinder and gentler version”.
Prayers up for your brother!
Good news! Merry Christmas to all.
Thank you for sharing the update. Tony, you and the rest of the family remain in my prayers.
Please add me to your update ping list.
God’s Peace be with you.
Thank you for the update!
They going to first give him the white blood cell transfer, then they will consider the bone marrow transplant.
Good to hear!
Thanks for the good news update on your brother Tony. Now praying for a good white blood call match from someone and continued improvement.
Joining with all the others in prayer for your brother’s continued successful treatment and complete recovery, in Christ’s Most Holy Name, amen.
We’re still here, TheMom.
