The UCLA Bruins will play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco on December 31st against the University of Illinois.
Both schools are coming off seasons in which they fired their head coach. The Illini dropped their last six games of the season after getting off to a 6-0 start, which cost Ron Zook his job.
The Bruins basketball team will also be in the bay area playing at California on December 31st.

Soembody please explain to me how a team (UCLA) that gives up 50 points one week and then 49 points the next, in back to back losing efforsts, can be considered for even a minor Bowl Game?

Because they have six wins which makes them bowl eligible.

Just wayyyy too many bowl games.. there shouldn’t be more than 10 bowl games ever. a bowl is supposed to be special.
To: BenLurkin
They should call it the “Lame Duck Coach Bowl.”

How the Gators are even in a bowl game this year, is a joke. Ohio State will murder them.

No need to worry, UCLA will win this game. Illinois football is pretty pathetic right now.

Actually I would welcome Zook back to Gainesville as an assistant, he was a good recruiter while he was here, just not head coach material.

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl Being a purveyor of mostly starchy, fatty, processed food products, it does seem ridiculous and self-serving, doesn't it?

We might as well have one more:
I propose the Unilever 2000 Flushes Toilet Bowl, featuring the 2 WORST teams in College Football. Loser gets moved down to the FCS (I-AA).
Nominees are:
Florida Atlantic (1-11)
New Mexico (1-11)
Akron (1-11)
Indiana (1-11)
This game and drama would get more ratings than the Sugar Bowl!

I have noticed in recent years that a number of the mid-tier bowl games are doing their invites in a regional manner. They want fans in the seats. I suspect that a lot of the people buying tickets for this game will be UCLA alumni living out on the West Coast.
