Think about how fluxed up this has all become. Here it is near Christmas time and so much attention on presidential candidates. For perspective consider the past seasons-—presidential elections and candidates were hardly a blip on the radar come Christmas times. Now we have the theatre of the absurd virtually 24/7 and 365. I salute it all with the tall finger.

I haven’t been excited about an election since Reagan. But yeah ... Obama MUST go. That’s the excitement and expectation of the upcoming election.

It is absurd and if something doesn’t change that fast, our country will be too torn apart for any president to fix.

I went for the ravioli today. It was that or chicken noodle soup. Not much to get excited about. Did get excited about what to drink. Milk or vodka. White Russian!

Run Sarah Run!

What if we told Sarah we would supply free of charge 20 Granny Nanny types to help with the kids, household chores, etc, 10 Chefs, and 100 ex-military security police, ex-cops, sheriffs, etc, for security around the clock and ask her to reconsider?! : ) I betcha' we would have lots of volunteers.

Obama must go, and any of our candidates would be a vast improvement over what we have now. But I’ve lost my excitement and enthusiasm for the election because I’m not crazy about any of the names left. Kind of the way I felt when Fred Thompson dropped out in 2008. Back then I disliked McCain even more that most of us dislike Romney today and I felt like a deflated balloon when he became our nominee. We all did. Yet, something changed in that election that brought back the excitement here on FR, and it even had many of us reach for our check books to send the McCain campaign a little something, or ask how we might volunteer. If you look back on the 2008 archives of FR you will see how enthused we were. So what happened? PALIN. One of the smartest picks of a VP in presidential history.

If McCain did not run such a horrible campaign following that pick Obama would still be just a Senator from ILL.

We can only hope that Newt, Mitt, or whoever can really give the VP pick some thought and think back to 2008. There are a number of names that would give us that feeling back.

I'm only lukewarmly supporting Santorum, and unless he pulls off a miracle, I'm writing in Sarah Palin's name on election day. And the rotten, corrupt GOP-E can go straight to hell!

And the country with it?! Don't you think obama has done enough damage?

I think we have to avoid cultivating feelings of entitlement or betrayal.

We have the slate of candidates we have. These are the people who chose to run this time around.

We do not “deserve” better. We were not “denied” better.

We need to be positive and energetic. We will each choose as we see fit from among those on our slate and then eventually we’ll have our nominee.

Then we need to all go nuts next summer and fall convincing America that Obama and the ‘Rats have been utterly wrongheaded, corrupt, and destructive, and that only small-government, free-market conservative policies will turn our country around.

We have a great opportunity here. If we succeed this year up and down the ballot then we can make progress enacting conservative policies and encourage better candidates to run in future elections.

One nagging question keeps coming back to me when I think of our Repub choices:

Why does the MSM/Dem/liberal Machine have nothing bad to say about Romney............ever?

I sense a major "Lucy - football" scenario ahead.

I don’t “like” any of them... but I could vote for Bachmann, Perry or Santorum... All far better choices than newt or romney... neither of which will I ever support in any way or vote for.

agree. When she gave her speech, I was standing on my couch Yelling “Go girl” next day I was on phone buying car decals. Some have said walk away for awhile, enjoy Christmas. I will do that. But that little shit in office will do something when Im not watching and that scares the bejuzees out of me. Remember the lame duck session over last Xmas?

Don’t care. The country deserves the President and government it elects.

None of the remaining candidates are 100% of what I was hoping for, to be sure.

Part of that, I think, is a generational talent gap. The best talent the GOP has right now is its young guns - Jindal, McDonnell, Rubio, etc. They all have the potential to be great, but they won’t come into their own until at least 2016, or maybe 2020 in a couple of cases. The other part of it is, we conservatives have been so hungry for a conservative alternative to Romney, I think too often we’ve looked before we leaped and have been bitterly disappointed when a particular candidate hasn’t turned out to be the next Reagan.

Still, for all that, I’m pretty upbeat. We don’t have any perfect candidates in the race, but we have competent ones. Beyond that, the country is seeing a conservative resurgence. That adds up to a far better hand than the GOP had in 2008. Obama can be defeated with the materials we have on hand, I absolutely believe it.
