Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.
Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.
Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.
Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.
I am at work, guarding an empty office building against the attack of Santa and his elves.
It’s a long sad story, and I don’t want to talk about it.
Today, I read the morning WSJ, answered e-mails from Europe, sent some e-mail Greetings, the new cable modem arrived from Amazon, 3 days after I ordered it (it was supposed to arrive middle of next week at the earliest!) prepared some traditional food, the dog following my every step, even though there were no treats to be had, bought some milk and alcohol in the morning, in the afternoon white vinegar and cheap pecan pie, that the store must have been dumping before the holiday, didn’t take a single photograph today, just finished an instant cafe latte, will eat in an hour or so, or maybe not, FReeping.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Gotta sore throat and head cold. Can’t go anywhere near family. Merry Christmas!
God bless you, both.
That was beautiful.
Not exactly alone. I’m with my eggnog and Drambuie. I had an nicely prepared (by me) fillet Mignon with a side of sauteed onions and artichoke hearts and a couple of glasses of Merlot. I was watching clips on Youtube of the Tango. “Scent of a Women and “Take the Lead” are especially good but “True Lies” is fun to watch.
I had a hard time the first Christmas day or two I was away from the kids after the divorce. The only place I could find that was open for breakfast was Waffle House which ended up starting a tradition with the kids.
Every year we’d go to my folks house 3 hours away a couple of days before, do the family thing on Christmas Eve and then drive back to our town and their mom’s in the morning.
We’d hit the waffle house that was 1/2 way there eat breakfast and leave a huge tip. The last time we did it my son had a good paying internship and matched my tip, we left $100.
In the grand scheme, tomorrow is just another day. It’s how you stay active in your kid’s day to day lives that matters in the long run.
And FWIW, my kids deem their mom’s actions on Christmas, Birthdays and special days the “glory moments”. She was sporadically involved in their day to day lives but always made a big production at the holidays, etc.
I took/picked up them from school each day and made myself available 24/7 if they needed me. Now that they are grown the love dividend for the time I spent hauling them around and just being available is paying back in spades.
I’m spending Christmas Eve and Day alone. Alone with my faithful dog, friskie cat, 3 clucking chickens, 2 parakeets and 1000 earthworms. I’m sure there must be a few mice sneaking about silently.
Christmas carols playing in the background while I hangout in the second best place on earth... FreeRepublic.
Life is good :)
Merry Christmas skooz
Remember those who won’t have family to go to tomorow.
And watch Red Skelton’s version of the Cop and the Anthem.
You can say that again!
Merry Christmas Sarge and to all FReepers!
On some forums, that would get a +1.
Set some cookie boobie traps. It works every time.
Merry Christmas Freeper Nation!
My daughter who lived with me for 8 years(w 3 grand kids) moved out with a true sociopath. Left with my three grandbabies and went to new York. My heart aches for them. Neither is working. All collecting government hand outs.
My mom and 3 sons are here but lord the gigantic hole in my heart hurts like heck. God bless everyone. May He give each and everyone if you peace this weekend.
God Bless ya and Merry Christmas. (You can stop with the Post key now) :^)

Imagine my despair when my internet went down today.
I thought sure I’d be without my FRiends tonight and tomorrow.
Sorry everyone for the multiple posts - the key got stuck in repeat mode from holding it down too long/
Merry Christmas to all Freepers.
It is a home away from home.
Merry Christmas and hoping 2012 will be a great for you and our country.
And Merry Christmas to ya too, Animal!
I have a full house at the moment, with my oldest back from college to visit with us, plus the two who never left. Merry Christmas in any event!
Good luck to you Sir. Opps, sorry about the Sir, your a sargent, a real man.
Good luck in Florida. I’m sure you won’t miss Ohio winters. I lived there 11 years (Dayton area).
Merry Christmas, Steve!

“and 1000 earthworms”
And people think I’m weird for having *only* 11 snakes.
Merry Christmas to you and your little annelid pals.
[please send me the mice ASAP...my snakes are hungry and thawing/heating the frozen ones is a huge PITA]
And Merry Christmas to you, Great!
Same here. Hubby went deer hunting this morning, watched a football game, saw my favorite Christmas movies (White Christmas and Christmas Carol - with Alistair Sims, of course), and had a quiet dinner. Very nice, actually.
I do I do I do!
Being alone ain’t so bad when we all have friends like each other.
Dayton, eh? That’s where I am now. Not for much longer though. Soon as I have all the loose ends tied down, I’m headed south.
Merry Christmas to ya!
That’s a beautiful graphic!
It's a trick!
While you're petting the pooch, Santa is robbing you blind.
Stop by here in Nashville. I will greet you at the Cracker Barrel or Waffle House..
