Drums do collect dust after all, and the brass just screams to be polished! :-)
To: oldteen
It was a greater feat to get all the drums and cymbals back into their proper playing positions!
To: oldteen
I understand. I’ve left that dumb vacuum cleaner sitting in this den for 3 days and it just sits there and does absolutely nothing. I’ve also left my can of furniture polish on a nearby table with the cloth on top and come tomorrow, its still there doing nothing.
Phyllis Diller said to leave the vacuum cleaner sitting out so when company drops in, you can just tell them you were getting ready to vacuum. She also said to keep a couple of get well cards handy and if you see some unexpected company dropping by...just sit a couple of the cards up where they will notice and then when they ask, you can just tell them you’d been under the weather. (this is just when they find the house untidy.) Works for me...LOL!

I know it's late and everyone has gone to bed, but I feel like sharing the blessing of my day. My pastor husband and I together christened our little granddaughter this morning at his church. It was a very special blessing to be able to baptize both our grand babies. This one was so sweet and so undisturbed by all the fuss. She is so precious to me because I keep her all the time. Is this not the most beautiful picture ever? Of course her Daddy made the picture.

When The Wind Blows
January 30, 2012
Harold and Cathy and their two sons were in a wooded area in Minnesota when a tornado touched down. Cathy described her experience to me several years later:
My husband and older son were some distance away, but my younger son and I took cover in a cabin. We heard a sound like a hundred railroad cars and instinctively dropped to the floor in a tucked position. The cabin began to break apart, and I shut my eyes because of all the flying debris. It felt like I was going up in an elevator and then was shot into the air. I landed in a lake and clung to debris to stay afloat.
Tragically, however, their younger son did not survive. Harold said of their loss: We cried every day for 6 weeks. But we believe that Gods loving sovereignty allowed that tornado to come down where we were. And we also took comfort in the fact that our son knew the Lord.
When a loved one is taken and we are left behind, it can create all kinds of questions. In times like these, Romans 8:28 can be of great encouragement: We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. This couples trust in Gods loving sovereignty brought them comfort in the midst of their grief (2 Cor. 1:3-4).
When we sustain a heartbreaking loss,
When grief overwhelms our soul,
The Savior who gave Himself on the cross
Reminds us that Hes in control. D. De Haan
Our greatest comfort in sorrow is to know that God is in control.
Read: Romans 8:26-30
Blessed be the . . . God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Rus, thank you. This ODB today, spoke directly to me, because of my recent loss of two dear friends:
By gracious powers so wonderfully sheltered,
and confidently waiting, come what may,
we know that God is with us night and morning,
and never fails to greet us each new day.
* * *
Yet is this heart by its old foe tormented,
still evil days bring burdens hard to bear;
O give our frightened souls the sure salvation
for which, O Lord, you taught us to prepare.
* * *
And when this cup you give is filled to brimming
with bitter sorrow, hard to understand,
we take it thankfully and without trembling,
out of so good and so beloved a hand.
* * *
Yet when again in this same world you give us
the joy we had, the brightness of your sun,
we shall remember all the days we lived through,
and our whole life shall then be yours alone.

Thanks very much, Jaycee! I appreciate the thoughts and kind words.
I went in and nothing happened this morning - the anesthesiologist would not authorize my going under due to shortness of breath. I then made an appointment with my PCP which I just finished. He has referred me to a pulmonologist, who I see Thursday morning.
After we resolve the breathing issue, we will reschedule the procedure.

GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMYS PLACE!
The Soldiers Code
1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.
3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.
5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.
6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.
