OT Denver 30 Pitt 23
The new rule gives teams a better chance to win in a more manly fashion (actually scoring a TD) as opposed to having the team that wins the coin toss prance to the 40 yard line so they can have some 97-pound waif kick the ball through the uprights for the "victory."
Under the new rules, when the coin toss winning team exercises that option, the other team will have the chance to get the ball back and play some real football.
Obama Fan, huh?
The ‘Obama Curse’ strikes again...
Year of the Tebow. Repent all ye non-believers!! Woo hoo!
Pretty pathetic when people can’t even enjoy a win without complaining about the refs.
OK, 2 can play.
A reception by Mike Wallace taken away by the refs that would have gotten the Steelers right back into it after Denver scored 2 TDs.
Roughing the QB called when a mere hand was laid on Tebow.
Pass inteference called on an uncatchable ball.
Helmet to helmet contact with no flag called on the Broncos.
As for Harrison’s legal hit, remember that this is what the NFL is asking for. When the Steelers hit high, they get flagged. So he hit low. NFL’s choice.
Too bad you all are so insecure that you have to complain about the refs after a win.
Tebow can throw a mean ball and beat us fair and square. I wouldn’t mention the officiating, but the sore winners here brought it up.
I'm a True Steelers Fan, but don't approve of any of the Rooneys...but his day will come and I believe the son's will sell the team..
Ben did not have good Defense support tonight..Hines Ward did what..two short runs that amounted to nothing...really sad game.. didn't even see the cameras scan on Tomlin but several times.. does anyone think a FIX was on this game??? my hubby thinks so????? you all know how biased the MSM is and all the hype about this young Christian quarterback, makes me wonder...........hum
Also a coming out party for DT!
If you like the Steelers that makes you an Obama fan? That’s a pretty great leap of logic.
And in that OT run Ike Taylor (I think it was him) tried to grab Demaryius Thomas facemask again.

A tweet post-game from Mr. Snerdley @bosnerdley
Oh. His. God. #Tebow is incredible. Even #JohnElway is FINALLY happy. Sorry, #Steelers. Boss'll be sad tomorrow. Slim comfort he was right.
“your mouth breathing thug animals”
Nice language. I will enjoy the off season, since I won’t have to spend any time with you. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs and all of the choirboys on the other teams.
Only 33% of the teams since 1994 that won the toss won on the first possession. It wasn’t a problem that needed to be fixed. The other team had the chance to stop them and failed. It’s not about the “arbitrary” coin toss, it’s about execution. And it’s not about “manly” it’s about execution. Make the stop. The Chicago Bears won 2 games in a row by INTs run in for TDs in OT, the idea that the coin toss winning team had some unfair advantage should have died that day. Then Brett Favre blew a 4th quarter chance and lost in OT and the whole stupid argument came back.
The new rule is beyond idiotic. Not only is it “fixing” a problem that never existed, it fixes it in a dumb way. I guarantee at some point (probably not soon because so few playoff games go into OT) the game will end on 3 FGs, the team winning the toss will go get one, then give one up, then go get another. Resulting in exactly the situation you’re complaining about. That’s the big reason why it’s a painfully stupid rule. All it does is delay the same sudden death OT we’ve always had, if the teams trade field goals we’re back to the “arbitrary” and “automatic” field goal.
It’s always been the first team to score in OT wins the game.
Great catch #54. Will be a story for a long time.
Rush’s prediction holds though. He said that God would probably be rooting for Denver.
“Why dont we just pretend the rules dont exist. Just like in Obamas world.”
Few too many brewskis during the game? What a stupid ass comment.
Tebow threw for 316 yards exactly. Or I like to say 3:16 yards
I realize that if both teams get a FG, it will be right back to where we started, but at least in that case, it cannot be argued that the other team never had an opportunity.
Also, I think both of us are missing what might be the real reason for the rule changes. Longer overtimes will result in additional TV commercials that networks can charge a premium price for - hence additional revenues to the NFL and to the networks that televise the games.
Remember, these rules are only for playoff games. They are fairly rare, so I doubt that these commercial interests drove the decision-making.
His average for the night on throws was 31.6 yards
What, "mouth" or "breathing" or "thug" or "animals."
Not seeing any bad language there, fella.
When I cuss, you'll know it.
[sarc]
They are if they play in New Orleans
....and 31.6 yards per completion.
Well you are a badass.
When he mentioned the game last week, I thought he didn't sound very confident about the Steelers' prospects.
I say let them play one more full quarter. Heck let them play ten of them if they are still tied.
But it doesn’t force anything. They can go down and get the FG and then make the stop. The only thing that’s forced is you have to make sure your defense doesn’t get too excited, they still gotta make the stop, 4 downs. What makes it even funnier is that this year’s regular season the number of first possession OT wins plummeted to under 10%. The game fixed the “problem” on its own. Actually the percentage has been dropping fairly steadily for years.
Actually OT doesn’t have the TV timeouts. The only extra commercials they get are for the wrap around to start the new quarter. And they won’t be charging a premium, as the game wears on the commercial spots pay less as the trend is for games to be decided and viewers tune elsewhere. So it’s not much extra revenue. It was all to stop the whining, now for Manning or Brady or Brees to not get to touch the ball in OT their defense will have to fail big instead of just fail small.
Interestingly, Rush called this loss on his show on Friday.
He said that the game would be close, that he thought the Steelers would win it, but he would not want to place a bet on it. He mentioned that he was worried that the Steelers were not scoring points, and that they were banged up, while Denver’s offense has been very good.
No, the basketball rule is even WORSE. Sudden death, it’s exciting, it’s fun, and both team HAVE a chance on every play. It’s not baseball, scoring is not asymmetrical. If you go basketball style then you wind up with the soccer problem of anti-climactic scoring. Imagine the lameness if after that amazing 80 yard throw and score now we have to wait another 14:45 to see if maybe the Steelers tie it back up or pull out a win. Part of what made that play great was that was it, game over the instant he crossed the end zone, not even kicking the extra point, do or die.
All of Zero's friends and supporters from the Steeler organization, such as Coach Mike Tomlin (below) are feeling mighty low tonight.

Al least Steeler Chairman Emeritus Dan Rooney, always thankful to The Won, can find solace tonight in being on Obama's team as Ambassador to Ireland.
The Steelers were too beat up to go very far in the playoffs this year. Losing 2 of their 3 starting D linemen today didn’t improve the situation.
Give it a rest, dude.

Drudge Report is noting the 3:16 (316) passing yards Tebow had. You can’t make this stuff up. :-)
Dick LaBeau lost this geme. Where was the safety on first down?
Bookmaark
Confirmed. 316.6 total yards for Denver.
(I had to check :)
“Just like I told you, Tebow cant throw!”
I didn’t say it. I do think Tebow’s passing is getting better and better. Probably a great work ethic.
Calling TAILS on a coin toss is always wrong.
It’s still pretty much 50/50 with the team getting the ball first winning, because it puts pressure on the team with the ball to get first downs, or else the opponent will get the ball in good field position.
Exactly what I was thought...
Absolutely dirty hit by James I dont care if I hurt anyone Harrison, destroying the knee of Broncos top receiver. James Harrison should be removed from the league. Even high school players know how to tackle/wrap up correctly.
Clearly backward pass, refs missed an obvious fumble...given field position likely a 7 point swing.
Multiple face masks on Tim Tebow never called. Broncos would have a really good chance to win in regulation if called.
Nobody with any principles can root for Rapelessburger and James I dont care if I hurt anyone Harrison.

The officiating clearly favored the Steelers....

Rooney is a pro-abortion Obama lover. Black and gold - oh puke. Find another team.
(Yeah, & if the Broncos had lost, you'd complain about me being a "sore loser"...so either way you wind up complaining about a post complaining about the refs...so I guess that makes you a sore loser complaining about posts, eh?)
A reception by Mike Wallace taken away by the refs that would have gotten the Steelers right back into it after Denver scored 2 TDs.
Ya gotta first have something to "take away..." Once it gets to reviewing a replay, you get into the most objective calls any ref can make in a game. Once you come to complain about replay decisions (99% of the time), you're really stretching the "sore loserman" angle. Helmet to helmet contact with no flag called on the Broncos.
The only helmet to helmet contact I saw was a Steeler running lowering his helmet as he was going down. A Steeler back (or WR) suddenly shifting his elevation is no intentional helmet to helmet.
As for Harrisons legal hit, remember that this is what the NFL is asking for. When the Steelers hit high, they get flagged. So he hit low. NFLs choice.
If you want to comment on this, fine. (But I wasn't the one complaining about this...go feed your sore loserman response to THAT poster)
Pass inteference called on an uncatchable ball
Thomas is what...6-foot-5...high passes ARE his specialty. Of course, when a CB first mugs somebody with his chest and then puts his left arm on the shoulder/arm of the receiver -- all w/out looking @ the ball -- of course he's going to get an interference call. My thought on that play was that had the CB been looking at the ball, then the contact he initiated would not have been seen as something he did intentionally.
Roughing the QB called when a mere hand was laid on Tebow.
The problem wasn't the contact. Refs are trained to look at renewed effort. The Steeler came in with arms just above the waist and then raised them after the throw to get a shove in...renewed effort. Had he merely bumped into Tebow - even a hard bump, no flag. You obviously have no discernment in "renewed effort" ref training.
316...as in John 3:16
Denver will need better play calling to beat Boston...just about every first down play was a run up the middle....except over time..
Indeed Dan Rooney is a big fan of Zero, actively and aggressively campaigning for the Marxist in 2008 stating, "He [Obama] is just like all of you people," Rooney said. "A regular person. He is the best person for the job." He obviously invoked his very own Rooney Rule when throwing his support behind the Kenyan.
