Mitt has won.
Ron Paul is only a distraction—even if he runs on a 3rd Party Ticket. Mitt is the new Dole, the New McCain, the new sock puppet—straw man for Obama to beat. The Fix is in—when Obama wins re-election it will be partly because of Ron Paul.

Don’t try to inject common sense into this thread.

I'm with the concept and have been for awhile already. I've been voting for the alternative conservative since 1996. I'm pleased to see a few more coming over to the concept of the third party more and more with each voting cycle.

The Republican Party has made it abundantly clear to me that I'm tolerated within their ranks so long as I keep towing the party line and voting for whom they instruct us to no matter how bad their stench and then bi*ch slapping us and giving us a swift kick in the rear and told to go back and hide under the front porch until the next time they need us.

I had enough back in '96 and haven't regretted it since. At least I can honestly say 'I voted for that other guy' and not the lesser of the two evil ones running in the two major parties (or rather the two merged socialist parties).

HA! No one has ever accused me of being optimistic. I did say "if" the congress is conservative, which it isn't now.

I am not hopeful that we can ever recover from the damage of the last several decades. I look around at the general public and sometimes I think we already have the government we deserve.

But a girl can dream, can't she??

I'm pleased to see a few more coming over to the concept of the third party more and more with each voting cycle.

What a counterfactual statement.

In 1992 20.4mm Americans - 19.5% of the electorate - voted third party.

In 1996 9.6mm Americans - 10% of the electorate - voted third party.

In 2000 3.9mm Americans - 3.8% of the electorate - voted third party.

In 2004 1.2mm Americans - 1% of the electorate - voted third party.

In 2008 1.8mm Americans - 1.4% of the electorate - voted third party.

That small uptick from 2004 to 2008 (650,000 voters or 0.5% of the electorate - a rounding error) was 60-40 in favor of hard left candidates (McKinney and Nader).

Third party votes, far from becoming "more and more" are down 91% over the past 20 years.

I choose to believe the actual people I talk to routinely. I find your numbers to be suspect at best. Good luck and I myself will keep voting for the most Conservative candidate regardless of party affiliation. That way I don’t have to go to bed at night feeling dirty like I sold out to my fellow Americans. Some things just aren’t for sale.

In other words, anecdotes instead of analysis.

I find your numbers to be suspect at best.

I'm sorry that basic mathematics is such a struggle for you.

>>...I look around at the general public and sometimes I think we already have the government we deserve...<<

I see that too, more often than not. We choose the govt we have every 2/4/6 years. It is far too easy to get complacent thinking the rest of the country *must* be like the FR community - how can they vote for RINO’s? I refuse to believe the majority are devoid of logic & reasoning, but the voting record just boggles my mind. For crying out loud, I just saw where John Bolton has endorsed *Romney*, of all people. Color me “completely-confused”.

Then I consider that perhaps the FR community’s point of view only represents a portion of the political *minority* in the country. I don’t know how small that portion is (and I hope it’s growing), but we are *clearly* out-ranked by RINO-voters and Dems.

Which brings me full-circle - Yep! We sure do have the govt we deserve (unfortunately).

It'll be interesting to see what you have to say in November 2012 when your liberal leaning RINO candidate goes down in flames once again because either Conservatives (and not your typical run of the mill fiscal only conservative) were so turned off once again that they either did what I do and voted for someone other than the RepubliCrat or just didn't vote in that race at all for the very same reason. Guys like you didn't learn a thing from the McCain fiasco in '08. Typical of liberal Republicans and moderate RINO's.

Americans are fed up with liberally thinking politicians aka moderates and RINO's. When the people finally quit shoring up the lesser of the two evil Presidential candidates be them Republican or Democrat then maybe the choices will start to improve but not until then. Vote for the other guy if you want to send a message!

I believe we are a dying breed. I see it personally, listening to the opinions of the younger generation in my family. They have been dumbed down to the point that they can barely think for themselves because they have never been taught to think beyond words in a textbook.

People are stupid, and don't mind drooling all over each other while standing in line for free stuff.

And if John Bolton endorsed Romney, I'll just assume that the world "out there" really is upside down and withdraw further into my own reality on my farm. :)
