a BIT more innocent...but I have vivid memories of nights when my brother and I and the neighbor kids were freshly bathed and in our PJ’s...but it was summer...and HOT...and my dad would load us all into the old Ford and take us to DQ for a Dilly bar...Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh life was so simple then.......

I give the kids I go to school with two pieces of advice-

1- Finish your degree now, so you aren’t my age and back in school.

2- Marry an orphan.

It was groovy indeed. I have a ton of vintage nighties...I should start wearing them out. :)

These days, no one would even think twice about you wearing them out, except maybe that nice man with his hands in his pockets, hitching his pants up.

Yes! We did that too!

My grandpa used to take us to DQ for Dilly Bars too. I think it was his weakness. He’d buy them by the bags full and put them in the freezer.

Lovely summer memories...what a treat it was when we’d put on our summer pjs after our bath and get to sit outside in the front yard eating a Popsicle before bed. The best was going to the drive-in movies. My dad put some kind of board in the back seat of his Pontiac so we could lie down with our pillows. :)

LOL

Sound advice on both parts. We told out son, get that degree now. He’ll have the BS in December, but going for the PhD. He was thinking of waiting in the PhD. I said Nope, you get it now. You get into the real world and time flies and before you know it, you have other commitments and you never get it. Then he found out that the major companies would rather he get the PhD first as well.

But, wouldn’t you just know that he would graduate in Dec, nearly a year early. I bought a shot glass for him with his 2013 graduation date and MSU on it. So I told him about it and asked if he had someone he could give it to. So much surprises! lol

LOL!

My kids were Skyping with their cousin, I was feeling under the weather, but I needed the computer for a minute. I sat down and started banging on the keys, and happened to glance at this scary looking woman with a swollen, red nose, mascara rings under her eyes, and with—what could only be described as—a ginormous brillo pad posing as hair. I was horrified. What on earth??

It was me.

I NEVER want to see that again. EVER.

It was the great Lee DeWyze beating Crystal Bowersox to a pulp with his acoustic guitar. Expect more of the same this year.

If Phillips can outlast Hollie Cavanaugh, Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine, he will not lose. Look at this thread...not one person has suggested that their pro-Hollie vote will go anywhere but to Phillips...and many are saying they'll do it to send a message to the judges.

Right you are Chunga, and to think that a marginal talent like Phillips will be competing with the best male singer in the history of American Idol and one of the top 3 females in the show's history (McPhee, Underwood)...and considering that this astonishing female singer is only 16 years old...a shy, reserved, socially awkward teenager...the daughter of a Navy man who served in Desert Storm...who has admitted that she doesn't know how to do anything but sing, but whose personality draws out the most despicable comments in the history of silent_johnny's threads, running the gamut from having a boy's figure to being an archetype of a racial profile the show's producers are trying to "ram down our throats"..., well, you can see why a no-singing, no-playing everybar everysinger everyman like Phillips will rake in the white person vote, the show's largest demographic.

And if he wins, I will be extremely happy for him...but he won't deserve it. Compared to the other two left, he's an absolute absurdity. He doesn't belong on the same stage as either of them. Skylar did. Colton did...but just barely.

But the ladies love him. Woooo Hooo!

And thanks for not reading this!

Chunga, maybe you can help me to understand something.

Why do you suppose that so many American Idol Freepers are going to throw their support to Phillips now that Hollie is gone? Can't the judges' favoritism toward Phillips, who receives praise week after week from all 3, be seen as throwing dear Hollie "Under The Bus," as they say? Why won't the FReepers be withholding their support and votes from Phillips in order to "Teach The Judges A Lesson?"

Thanks in advance, and for not reading this!

Well Mr. C, it's for the same reason that they're praised and congratulated for snarking and you aren't. There's a word for it, but there's no need to use it here. It's for the same reason that you're accused of almost calling people a Nazi, while others call you a fascist without reprisals. It's why you're shunned for speaking your point of view, while others are allowed to ridicule minors while recieving many jovial attaboys without one word of opprobrium from the thread host.

Get the picture? You should leave the thread.

Thanks for not reading this!

“How can we drag this crap on long enough to make certain we have time for a performancy by J-Lo”

LOL! That's probably a typo, but I like it. We'll add it to our Idol Thread lexicon :)

Performancy: (pur-for-man-see) noun. A silly, time-filling performance; see Jennifer Lopez.

Did anyone else notice this?

They showed the "journey" for Jessics, Phillip, and Joshua, BEFORE they announced who was leaving..but showed Hollie's AFTER they said the was goig home...

So, where's the drama in that?. They all-but announced in advance.

Well, Hollie and Skylar are out. Josh’s voice is really bothering me cuz he never sings the note that’s there. He takes a note below and goes up. That’s okay sometimes but Joshua does it every single time. PP isn’t that great and Jessica can do amazing stuff with her voice but I like half of what she does. So, that’s my worthless summary. Everyone I rooted for is done. I’m no judge of amerika (mostly little girls for PP).

Yep. Hollie went right under the bus starting on Wednesday night. Even that creepy Jimmy started things off by telling Hollie NOT to oversing so she didn’t and then the judges told her she wasn’t singing enough. Total setup.

I liked Jessica better second song. She pulls too many rabbits out of the hat for me. When you have that much ability, why make an exhibition out of it? She oversings and gets the three seals clapping wildly.

Hollie was on Leno last night. She was singing w/the band going into commercial and that wasn't her fault.

Oh, I'm not for Phillips. I think he's another cookie cutter AI pick with a guitar and talk about lack of enthusiasm, there you go.

It's over for me this season. Finale, what finale? I've seen enough confetti and balloons since Kelly C. won to last a lifetime. Since the confetti will be falling not on Skylar or Hollie or maybe some of my other favorites who got sent home, I have no growlers in the game or slackers or sliders like Joshie.

Well said. And at this point, I'm done watching. I was only watching to see the hometown girl sing. This show sure has changed since the last time I watched. Simon's real-world critiques are needed in a bad way. Too many cheerleaders instead of judges.

It’s not real if they don’t get actual criticism. Rooting for hometown is only thrill left. I wonder how much invisible spandex JLo is wearing under her tiny dance outfit. She can’t sing that great either but she can act but usually gets wedding planner type roles which are so so.
