Posted on 01/18/2012 11:41:39 AM PST by silent_jonny
I think we all enjoy the snark, the belly laughs, and watching someone shine--and touching moments like P2 had tonight. This is such a welcome respite from the suckiness of the world, especially with Bobo the clown and his flying monkeys holding the reins. God willing, things will change.
In the meantime, have a wonderful summer. Stay safe, healthy, and the lovely man you are!
The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)
God be with you ALL!
THAT, my FRiend...was BEAUTIFUL! and so are YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She was busty when she was on idol and she had a bottom then, too. I prefer her with lighter colored hair (she had really dark hair for a while,) and without the straight across bangs. Her hair on the right looks nice.
Lesson slearned..........l:”et me put in hair extensions, they will detract from your fat ass”...Lesson two......”Show a little leg...if the lesbians get upset who cares! Your hair extensions are far better than anything a dyke can show!..........lesson three, Fake your engagement on live tv, since at least 33% of market share will think it is authentic!!!
Talk about 5 minutes of my life I will never get back!
Do you have a source that states the ring was donated? He didn’t say it was donated. He merely mentioned the place he bought it from. There is a difference.
Perhaps Crackerjcks will be a new advertiser next season (eye roll)
Lesson 4. If you have dentures, don’t don’t shout and scream lyrics at risk of loosing the teeth!
You know, of all the songs Diamond could have done, why do you think he picked THAT one? Yeah I know it was a hit bit, c’mon, he could have chosen a much better tune. That was disappointing. We wait all these years for THAT?
I wonder how well Diana would have done if she was in season 11 singing this year. She has one of those big ole voices similar to Hollie’s. I remember the first time I heard on AI she filled up the whole room with her voice.
She didn’t screech and scream so, she might not have done well. She got robbed. No way screamtasia was better. None.
Hasta la bye bye, Jonny.
Phillip was a gracious winner, and Jessica sure was gracious, too. What a little lady, so poised.
Jessica sure was gracious, too. What a little lady, so poised.
She did. I think she learned from PP, watching how he enjoyed the “ being there” rather than I have to win.
THANK YOU, for hosting again this season. If it weren’t for this thread, we would have given up on AI forever.
God bless and see you next season (from a lurker)
Awww, thank you. Right back atcha neighbor!
I was looking for the perfect gif to add and couldn't decide, so I went with a funny jpeg.
You made me tear up, too. Sometimes I disagree with you (occasionally vehemently LOL), but you are a good guy and I am always glad when you are here.
I started watching AI last year at about the same time I found this thread. You and the posters make the show more enjoyable and, at times, tolerable. Thank you. (please put me on the ping list for next year).
I enjoyed both of your many posts this season and I do realize you are two different cups of tea but you are both funny and informative.
Another lurker to tell you how much we enjoy the thread and thank you for bringing it to us every week! I rarely post anything, but I do read the entire thread.
I liked P2 from the beginning. Last night he vindicated all my votes for him. What a swell guy.
See ya next year!
You are very kind — thank you.
>> I am always glad when you are here.<<
As am I happy when you are here also. We do have a rollicking good time, don’t we?
As with the rest of the crew of regulars. This season has been particularly good — many laughs and few (if any) sour balls
From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you!
This AI thread is the most enjoyable, funny, and entertaining thread on FReeRepublic.
See you all next season!
1. Modestly, may I remind you all that over 5 weeks ago, to considerable dersion, and a few snarky comments, I said flat out that P2 was gonna win..not based necessarily on talent, but by the fact that those who vote, over and over, the teen girls, tween girls, and their moms...well, P2 was the only suitable object for their affections..
2. Really liked the duet with P2 and Fogarty.
3. Still can't get over the camel-toe on Chaka Khan.. that should NOT have been allowed to occur.
4. Just read that the ratings for the finale were waaaay DOWN...AI may be in trouble... they should consider making Silent_jonny the executive producer...
5. Neil Diamond can't sing anymore..his voice is gone..he was speaking the words most of the time...and when he sang, he had NO power left in his voice. Shame..I'm going to see him next Sunday in Tampa..( I'll send you all a review)I caught him here two years ago...it was an awesome show..but his voice is all but gone now..
6. Skylar wore somethng that makes her ass look even bigger..gawd...whatever happened to Tommy Hilfiger..the girl really needed fashion advice..but Reba was superb..
... Can't believe we didn't hit 10,000 posts.
As I was skimming the thread, I realized that CHUNGA had been absent for both nights..YAAAAY!!!!!..until I saw that he got in just before this post..drats...
Silent_jonny...as always...it's been a joy..you provide us with a respite, a refuge from worrying about our country, and what that POS Obama is doing to it...many thanks...
Maybe by next season, they'll fix the darn servers on FR..
I'm gonna tape Duets...give it one chance...if anyone's doing a thread, or sees one, kindly ping me...
Everyone..y'all have a great Memorial Day weekend...have fun, stay safe..nobody drink and drive..
Just realized..last three weeks..NO SPARKLEEZ on the thread...whassupwifdat?
Hey Jonny thanks for everything. We really enjoy you and everyone on the thread every year. Lil and I were not on much this year because she is away for six weeks and I’ve been recording it so we can watch together when she gets back. God bless!
Ace Young: How I Planned a Live TV Wedding Proposal
It was the engagement seen ‘round the world Wednesday night on American Idol, so how did Ace Young manage to pull off his surprise proposal to fiancée Diana DeGarmo?
With a little help from his Idol family, it turns out.
“I called [producer] Nigel [Lythgoe] directly last week and said, ‘I want to do this. I’m going to do this. Is there any way I could do it at the show?’ “ Young, 31, told PEOPLE at the Ford-sponsored American Idol season 11 finale post party. “He said ‘Yes, I’m not going to tell anybody until the day of ... [and] I want you to figure it out with Ryan [Seacrest].”
PHOTO: See Diana DeGarmo’s Engagement Ring!
But DeGarmo, 24, who was “completely caught off guard,” almost thwarted Young’s big plan at the last minute.
“I actually almost got up to go to the bathroom to fix my hair,” she said, laughing. “And then I just started shaking [on stage].”
As his fiancée showed off her new sparkler at the party, Young explained what went into the making of the ring.
“A month ago, she said, ‘Gold needs to come back,’” the season 5 finalist said. “I was like, I agree, so mental note. Her favorite thing is a sunflower and she loves yellow, so one of our dear friends [helped me] put together a ring that has a yellow diamond, a gold band and two smaller diamonds on the side that are clear, so it’s like a sunflower.”
And though the newly engaged couple who recorded a duet on DeGarmo’s recently released EP Live To Love have yet to start planning for the big day, one thing’s for certain there will be “plenty of music” at their wedding.
Looks like the ring was especially made for Ace to give to Diana and this is probably why he mentioned the Jeweler as a special thanks to them. Diana didn’t know though, so while Ace knew what he was going to do, it was only staged in the sense that the show needed to set aside time for it.
Phillip Phillips Had Eight Operations During American Idol Run, His Father Says
Imagine what Phillip Phillips could do if he were 100 percent healthy.
The American Idol winner dazzled viewers all season long, despite battling chronic kidney problems and having eight separate surgeries since the competition began, his father told PEOPLE Wednesday after an eventful finale.
“He’s been doing [well], but it’s just grueling hours and it’s just amazing what he’s done through the journey,” said the singer’s dad, also named Phillip Phillips, at the show’s official Ford-sponsored after party. “Eight operations since we started American Idol ... He’s hitting 50 percent, but he’s still up there swinging away.”
Adding, “I was so proud I could cry” over his son’s win, the elder Phillips also said, “They’ve just seen a glimpse of what Phillip can do. We can’t wait to get him well and 100 percent and really see how he can perform.”
The younger Phillips, 21, suffered with a build up of kidney stones and underwent multiple operations to remove them. In the next few weeks, after another surgery to reconstruct his kidneys, he is expected to make a full recovery in time for the Idols Live tour.
“The recovery’s probably two to four weeks,” said his father. “He’s healthy, he’s good. His kidneys are good. I can’t wait for America and the whole world to see him [after his surgery], because he’s a big cut-up. He’s going to have some fun.”
The singer himself told reporters Wednesday that the problems were a struggle but that he had the support to get through them.
“I’m going to get some surgery done, so I’m going to get all better for the tour,” he said. “It was very tough [getting through the season]. I had great doctors and great people surrounding me [who] really helped out, so it’s just a blessing to be here.”
I realize that you never received as much as a single "you're welcome" from the thread host, yet you stayed around week after week and provided your musical wisdom and sage predictions regarding the season's outcome...and of course you were borne out. I am grateful that you decided to hang in there in spite of the rudeness you were shown.
I sure hope you'll come back for the American Idol 2013--Live Thread.
And thanks for not reading this!
In spite of everything you said, I'll take the high road here and once again thank the thread host for hosting the thread.
Thanks for hosting the thread this year silent_jonny! You do a great job!
And thanks for not reading this!
Your posts above prove without a doubt...you are an ass.
Thanks for not reading them!
You are so funny. I am just now going through the thread. I will miss you. I can’t do the levin thread because it’s at the same time as I am in the car. :( I do listen to him at times though. Agree with him always but sometimes can’t stand his way / ranting. Wish he had a better sense of humor.)
Scotty was awesome. Still is. He was the perfect idol winner, and I am not really a country fan.
My AI triva for the night.
I was wondering why Kelly Clarkson was playing such a big role as a mentor on The Voice since she has a new show on ABC
It turns out she is dating Reba McIntires stepson - who Blake Sheltons manager.
I think the dad is involved some kind of way with Kelly Clarkson..maybe manager.
What could possibly go wrong there...
Holy Incest, Batman!
I was an occasional lurker here too, thanks so much for this thread. I had lost interest in AI the past few years. Picked out P2 at the auditions and stayed for the ride. So happy he won. The finale was the most touching thing I ever saw—on Idol or any other tv show. I was crying along with him. His song “Home” is the #1 download on Itunes and he has a total of 10 songs in the top 100. Hope he gets well and goes on to a great career. BTW, I was scanning the thread and lmao at post #9561. I’ll never forget Simon’s reaction to that Fantasia performance. Thanks for the laugh!
Holy Mother of Chicken McNuggets! Mantasia is singin with Fantasia?????? GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!
Oh dear LORDWHAT IS SHE WEARING???
Ha ha ha ha. When I watch the show, many hours or even a day after you guys get to watch all together, I IMAGINE what’s being said on the thread. And I imagined you all going nuts with the Double Scream Duet, and of course the “outfit” with the sides ripped open for better hamhock viewing!!
That still of Simon Cowell reacting to fantasia cracks me up ever since it happened!
Rofl, Sam Donaldson! “hot august night, and the goats hangin’ round, and the grass on the ground smellin’ sweet”
Did you catch J Lo lowering her mike and her voice track continuing......
Immediately. She’s always lip syncing. How dare she critique other singers??
Those JLo booty photos look like she is one of those human in front, horse in back creatures.
I think they are trying to de-sensitize us, for when we are taken over by Muslims, and Ululating will be the order of the day!
See, comments like this alone are worth the price of this thread!!
Loved watching Aerosmith! It was great.
Loved watching Aerosmith! It was great.
I believe that was the most moving victory moment Ive ever seen on this show. Wow.
Touching. Cookie’s win was too — wasn’t his bro dying, or just had passed?
Johnny, I’ve been so absent this season, sometimes reading the thread very late and not commenting because it is so hard to re-find your place in the thread again. fR used to take you back to where you were previously in the thread before your comment but now you are always taken back to the top of the loooong page and now I am always on the iPad.
But I want to tell you how special the thread is to me, how FUNNY you and the merry band of regulars are, and how nice it is to have two nights of fun break from real life and enjoy your company.
I wish you did another thread because I will miss you all so much before January. We watch America’s Got Talent on Monday nights. You might look and see If it interests you. They have Howard stern now and he is much better than loser piers Morgan whom Howard replaced.
And the host is nick cannon, who is very sick with lupus and a real sweetie. Tell me f you do a thread on it.
I love you, dude, and just want to say thanks for the joy your thread and you bring to us!! Group hug!!
Going to go order a dark bodysuit to wear all summer, with the thighs cut out, while. Try to lose these pregnancy pounds. Until this finale I thought I couldn’t wear such things. ;)
It always made me feel special when you said hi to me. Never give up. This gives joy to a lot of people. Thank you for being you.
Also, get your calcium from food only. Don’t take calcium pills. My only stone was from those chewable cal mg pils. NEVER AGAIN.
Re Tommy Hilfiger, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Whoever had the idea to have him give his fashion suggestions should have been fired and maybe was. After two episodes, where most of the kids ignored him totally, and one chopped off and dyed her hair for Tommy only to be immediately voted off, tommy slunk back to Macy’s with his tail between his legs, or something. Ha ha ha.
