Are firearms being presented in a positive or at least not-negative context now more than ever?
The trailer "One for the Money" with Katherine Heigel dialogue includes a line something like "I got to shoot guns, how cool is that".
Two million firearms were purchased this Christmas season.
Local tv doesn't always deride a victim who shoots the perp. One local news broadcast even highlighted firearms training school.
Is it just me?
Now that you mention it, I haven’t noticed an overt anti-gun theme like I’ve seen in the past.
I’m still catching up on season #3 of Big Bang Theory. Penny and Leonard go to a shooting range? Kewl.
Love that show. Reminds me of my geeky self a bit... Plus I work in a place that’s about two-thirds doctorates in the sciences. Primadonas? Yep... We got ‘em.
A guy I work with watches the new show “Alcatraz”. He says somebody catches one in the melon every week.
Well... The facts are finally getting out ahead of the standard liberal rhetoric. Gun ownership is at an all time high and rising. Meanwhile, crime rates... Especially murder rates, are falling. Home invasion, mugging, car-jacking... All falling. Turns out that criminals don’t ~at all~ like being shot at. Funny that. Millions more people (especially women) are taking classes and becoming more familiar and proficient with firearms.
Gun laws are being relaxed a little. My uber-liberal state (WA) just legalized suppressors (yay!).
More guns... Less crime. Go figure.
Just saw one where Sheldon gives a Powerpoint presentation to Penny in the laundry room about why he should get to Switzerland with Leonard. Funny stuff.
Try “Top Shot” on the History Channel and “Sons of Guns” on the Discovery Channel. Both are totally RTKBA. They show a huge sea change for the Second Amendment. The left, right now, just has nothing to equal them.
Other than he said he knew how to handle guns due to playing video games all the time and then shoots his little toe.
The chick grew up with guns but released the slide before inserting the magazine, thus cambering a round *according to the script.
Did anyone else notice that Penny racked the slide first and released it all the way, then inserted the magazine, and then the gun fired accidentally and shot whatshisname in the foot?
Yes. And at one point they are both standing in the same stall...each with pistol in hand. Additionally, Penny turns to Leonard and actually points the loaded pistol in his direction without first clearing it.
Apparently there was no firearms technical advisor present on the set. It would have been a good opportunity to get some airtime for basic safety. But that wouldn't be funny would it?
Hollywood is desperate for a new storyline, because they’ve spent years showing irresponsible people handling firearms. Maybe some writers finally visited a gun store/range and found out the truth.

I saw it last week. The authorities stated that the criminal
used a Winchester 70. Sure enough they produced a beautiful
pre ‘64 70 (just like my .220 Swift) I thought they were
going to stay accurate. Nope. At one point they stated that
a more modern gun with the same ammo had 50% more range.
Then the .308 was reduced to a wisper with a suppressor. And
they made it look like buying a gun was way too easy in Cal.
It is interesting that these gun-related shows are doing well. Top Shot is hard to watch, though. I can’t quite put my finger on it... But something bugs me about that show. Part of it is they’ll have an expert with a bow competing with a pistol, or an expert with a pistol competing with a rifle.
Put me in there with a longsword and lets see how they do. I don’t know... Some standardization of the course might be helpful.
I’ve seen several episodes of Sons of Guns... And they’re fun, but are getting a little too wound up in the soap-opera of family stuff. Seriously...

I’m 66 ... and my son gave ME a rifle for Christmas, a nice new/early production Egyptian AK47 Maadi. One of the nicest presents I’ve ever received, mostly because it is the evolution of his upbringing coming out as he raises his daughter/my graddaughter. Two Christmases ago (when she was not yet a teen) I gave her the same .22lr Marlin Model 60 that her father learned to shoot with. I had given it a special cleaning and refinished the furniture for her. Guns are an American tradition ...
The BBC series pilot of “Sherlock” showed Dr. Watson, gun owner and skilled shooter, kill a criminal suspect, without any condemnatory comment or consequence.

And then, “Tintin”. Guy looks 12 yet manages to live alone. Keeps a handgun in his home, and fires it at assorted villains, again without repercussions. Used one later in the film, similarly; I don't recall if it was the same one (meaning he had been running around with a Concealed Firearm! or if he just happened to find one when he needed it.
And the fact that he needed it.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this. Maybe you are. I don't know.
But it looks pretty good to me....
The History Channel still slants very much leftward IMHO. I just saw today where the History Channel had on a show about the KKK.The left wing brain trust at the History Channel want you to think that the (KKK) are right wingers. From what I understand about the KKK they were a bunch of Democrats and they started up back in the days of the Civil War.I think by showing this,the History Channel is intentionally helping Obama fuel the race wars that he wants sooo bad and he thinks will help get him re-elected! Who worries about the KKK? Are they really a big threat like the History Channel want us to believe?
Then there’s always the Kennedy assassination shows the H.C. always air for democratic sympathy,to help democrats get re-elected, IMHO.
