I use www.webs.com. There is a nice free version available, but if you prefer a low cost premium site with no ads, then the subscription rates are very reasonable. It also includes a nice selection of pre-made website templates in which all you have to do is enter your text, image or video locations, or other items, and you're all set to go.

I like 1and1.com - modest price - works well and has a very good built in email service to the domain name you create.

Have you considered Google Apps?

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

I have several domains I registered with GoDaddy then set up free email, web sites, calendar, etc. etc. with Google Apps. The free version allows you to set up to 10 accounts per domain and each account can have its own web site(s), email, calendar, docs, etc. You can’t beat free.

I have heard too many bad things about Go Daddy hosting. Use em for domains, but take the hosting somewhere else. I had used 1and1 for a while, but have recently been trying out hostgator. So far so good.

I use webhostingpad.com. I really haven't pushed them hard as I use it mainly to host my email accounts and a few webpages.

I register my domain names through GoDaddy.

I host all my websites on http://mediatemple.net

It’s a great combination. I strongly recommend Media Temple.

Ah, let me add that if you look around, you can find “promo codes” for both sites/services that can save you a lot of money. There’s a 25% off hosting at MT promo code, for example, that I saw some time back (it’s still valid).

switch from godaddy it outsources a lot of tech support: Here is a good website with discounts included:
http://www.gobblerhosting.com/
It would look like hostmonster (who my last company used to use) has merged with bluehost, so I would suggest them.

I have created numerous web sites over the past four or five years (mostly WordPress based) and I’ve found Blue Host to be the best. Offer the most for the money, and ftp, etc. always free and included. Very unhappy with 1&1 and Go Daddy.

GODADDY pros and cons

1) They do NOT have a 1-800 #. If you do not have a long distance plan, you are screwed. (You’d think they could afford a 1-800# with the amount of money Danica Patrick makes for them)

2) Their tech support are AMERICANS. Unfortunately...if you are not a techie, they get frustrated quickly and make you feel like an idiot.

3) They sell you multiple crap that you don’t need.

*****

BLUEHOST and HOSTGATOR are ok. They don’t get frustrated easily if we have tech questions and very affordable.

http://www.freehostia.com

Free version not bad, no banners etc. I use a $5/mo. version that has lots of space but the free version isn’t bad if all you need is a simple site (250 MB disk space
6 GB bandwidth)
