Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" won record and song of the year. Rolling in the Deep" is a song recorded by English singer-songwriter Adele for her second studio album, 21. The song was written by Paul Epworth and Adele, who described it as a "dark blues-y gospel disco tune. It is considered to be a crossover hit, the biggest in the United States from the past 25 years, gaining airplay from many different radio formats. It was first released on 29 November 2010 as the lead single of the album. The lyrics describe the emotions of a scorned lover.

IMHO, “Set the Rain on Fire” is just as good as “Rolling in the Deep.”

There is a reason why she had a serious vocal chord injury. She doesn’t sing right. She should study bel canto. Hell, everyone onstage tonight should study bel canto. My 2 cts.

I looked up bel canto and wonder if you have a summation. What I found isn’t extactly succinct. My daughter is a professional singer and want to know exactly what you mean.

And she’s a singer that smokes.

Never heard of her until it was reported that she broke her vocal chords. Couldn’t name one song of hers.

And then we hear that she had surgery and she was told to not speak by her doctor.

And then, she has an app on her iphone that allows her to swear, because she can’t speak.

No, thanks.

Who are these people and why does anyone care?

Most quote singers today don’t sing using their diaphragms. Everything is in the upper areas of their vocal chords. They have learned to think a semi-shout on a high note is singing, when it is just shouting a note.

Reminds me of an old Steve Martin routine....

"My sister had a music teacher once, 80 year old guy, the last guy you'd expect to be weird.. but listen to this:

He wanted her to sing from her diaphragm....

I mean that would take YEARS to learn that, wouldn't it?"

My point. I bet if you looked at every Grammy nominee and winner tonight, you would find less than ten per cent were classically or formally trained. They are all pop culture products mimicking sounds they have grown up listening to. Oh well . . .

My point. I bet if you looked at every post of yours...you would find 10 percent of them were original. The rest were mimicking other posts. Oh well.

You know...with FEW exceptions...THAT is the NATURE of music...even amongst those YOU "grew up listening to" and even amongst those who do the "classical training."

Just WOW. Not only a win for dumbest post of the day...but you get 11 wins in a row. Congrats!

Maybe I’m just getting old but I rather like the husky voice of Kim Carnes when she sings “Bette Davis Eyes” or maybe the voice of Roseanne Cash singing “Seven Year Ache”. I not so sure about this Adele.

Oh well. I suspect that if you examined tonight’s Grammy nominees and winners, you might discover that fewer than 10% have been classically or otherwise formally trained. I bet they are all products of pop culture, who are mimicking the sounds that they had grown up hearing.

I like Adele. She sings, at least, and seems to have some degree of true modesty about her. I can’t say the same for most of the hip-hop garbage. Speaking of, WHAT was that blasphemous crap song with the priest and altar boys? Just when you think Hollyweird can go a whole show without something completely vulgar, they go and remind you why they are utterly corrupt.

Adele, though, she is good in my book. Thumbs up to her.
