It is a beautiful day-65 and sunny at last after all the cold, dreary weather-no more estimates to do today-in half an hyour or so, I’m going to make some tuna salad for lunch, pack it up along with a bottle of Sobe strawberry kiwi and my book and head for my favorite hidden place in the woods-

The zeitgeist ‘rats are pushing
Is no longer ringing true-
The Catholic employers said
They won’t be told what to do

Like handing off to an insurer
And demanding that they provide
The services the Church will not-
That already has been tried

And as to that, most are self-insured
So in spite of all the braying
Obama can’t make that “accomodation”
When the Church would still be paying

How precious! The blonde one looks like my neighbor’s Lab-even to the “who-me?” look he has when he escapes and gets returned home by one of us neighbors...

I saw the bit on Fox on that lunch debacle-the school ended up eating crow and having to apologize because the lunch was not only “healthy” but actually better the school lunch. If someone fed my kid f***ing processed, fried chicken nuggets instead of a nice turkey and cheese sandwich, I’d be pissed, too. I hope the parents sue.

I am not sure chicken nuggets are real food.

Nuggets are made just like those crab nuggets-chopped, formed chicken, fish, etc. It is all SPAM-S*** Posing As Meat. I don’t think it is real food.

The turkey was probably processed luncheon meat, but still......it’s the parent’s choice. I don’t do luncheon meat.....if I have a turkey sandwich, I cook up a turkey breast for the meat.

It IS the parent’s choice-no one knows better what healthy food a child will eat without a fuss but their parent.

I can buy fresh sliced turkey and other non-processed meats at the grocery store/deli here, along with REAL sliced cheese. One of the members of the family that owns the store used to be a deli manager at one of the organic markets in the city, and brought her contacts and expertise with her. I stopped by there on the way home from an estimate, and I’m eating a turkey and Swiss with spicy mustard on 7-grain bread for lunch even as we speak.

Thank you!

I have never cared for the taste of salt-like sugar, the consumption of it was not encouraged at home when I was a kid-just a bit of salt on popcorn and stuff like that. The organic turkey is really just fresh baked turkey, which comes in 5 lb. packages from a meat company in SA every day-1/2 turkey breast and 1/2 dark meat. It is not packaged for keeping past a couple of days, so it is not salty or flavored with other preservatives. Same with the roast beef and the chicken they sell there. They make barbecued brisket and smoked turkey breast fresh every other day, too, because it is on the menu at the restaurant they also own just up the road.
