In a quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Soros lowered his holdings in Apple by more than 222,000 shares to 95,000 for the quarter ended on Dec. 31, from the quarter ended Sept. 30.

maybe not...he probably knows where the market is heading...or where he plans on attempting to drive it as a result of planned actions...it the short term
To gain control of search results. How cute.
He is making a bet that without Steve Jobs, Google will eat Apple’s lunch.
He only sold part of his holdings, so it’s probably just an adjustment of his portfolio I’m guessing. Apple probably a bit overpriced, but not terribly so.
Google is supposed to be releasing something, in the not too distant future, that is supposed to be revolutionary in the consumer market, so I’m guessing Soros think it will pump up Google’s shares.
A search portal is arguably a public utility.
When the first state offers a search portal It will make a fortune.
And will be copied by every other government in the world.
Google and the billions invested in it will disappear.
I don’t know why the private sector won’t provide this service, but it obviously won’t.
That seems pretty obvious doesn’t it? Apple has enough cash reserves and enough loyal die hard fans they will be around for a very long time and their decline will be a very slow and gradual one. I don’t even expect to see any signs of a decline for another 2-3 years.
The IPad 3 is supposed to be announced in 2 weeks. They have prepared 65 million units as I hear it. They expect to be backordered.
Why would you use a state’s search engine? I wouldn’t.
Same reason I’d use their schools or libraries instead of private ones.
Because the government is better than free enterprise?
I read the following on Twitter this morning:
Proview, the company that claims ownership of the “iPad” name in China, has asked the Chinese government to block exportation of Apple’s iPad, which would effectively bring global sales to a halt.
Might Soros like this idea?
Building up cash reserves for BHO’s political run!!!!!!
Do you really think a state will have better engineers that create better algorithms than a technology company? They don’t now. I think there’s a lot more to technology than you realize.
AAPL's p/e is 10.77 - way underbought.
It’s price-earnings may be good, but Apple isn’t likely bringing anything out that will be revolutionary. The Ipad 3 and Iphone 5 are going to be largely evolutionary products.
I wasn’t expecting a response of “ ‘Your’ an idiot!” , ubiquitous though it is on the internet LOL!
Those state libraries and universities have no idea how to deal with information...
Most people are not as pleased with Google as you are. They are not providing a good search portal for people whose age or IQ is over 20.
They are obviously providing a very profitable advertising medium- but then that is their main goal.
I didn’t mean to say you are an idiot. But states are usually horrible on technical issues. For a whole host of reasons, I don’t think a government search engine is a good idea. As far as Google, I think there algorithms are better than people are telling you. (And Bing seems to think so, since they were stealing their results) But even the best search engine is going to be reflective of what’s out there on the internet. If there’s a lot “sub 20 IQ” stuff, then that will be found. However, if you are a whiz with Boolean searches, you can really make search work for you.
