The NRA should add one more rule to their gun safety rules:
Never allow yourself to be taught gun safety by a law enforcement officer.

The NRA offers courses for training LEOs.

However most just use POST employing
the obsolete and dangerous "Cooper Rules"

You forgot. “Treat all guns as if they are loaded”.

I did not forget it.

Clearly the Deputy was taught that rule.

But Deputy Calvin Smith ignored it !

An NRA Instructor does not permit
Loaded Guns in a classroom !

This is an announcement at the beginning of each segment.

Each gun touched or moved in the classroom
is inspected and confirmed to have an empty breech first.

Better yet they use "Blue guns", light blue plastic replicas.

I would suggest a pocket holster.

It will keep obstructions out of the muzzle
and keep your finger or any other object
away from the trigger.

Already looking for holster/holsters to make concealed carry more conveneinet. Hoping a few hundred rounds will loosen it up so I can manually chamer a round. Read on a forum that a guy (probably qualified as a gunsmith) shave 20 or so thousnadths off the slide stop of his so it could move back just a scootch further. he said it cleared up all issues with chambering a round and even allowed it to accept rounds it wouldn't chamber at all before (I found that some of the wider open hollow points jam consistently agains the feed ramp and noted that even a comparable Sig has the same problem).

My Dad taught me right and I'm always careful to keep the trigger free from obstructions (only use clean pockets to keep mechanism free of debris) and my finger when I don't want to make a loud noise...

But it is a fact the officer was holding the gun when it discharged and it was pointed at another person at that time, and the round struck another person. Fact. Not presumption, not heresay, multiple eyewitnesses including the victim and the officer. It is what happened.

The only thing they may want to not touch is whether it was accidental or deliberate. If accidental it’s a huge problem. If deliberate officer needs to show just cause.

Otherwise, there’s no stretch of implication. It is what happened.

Let’s see now, the law enforcement community at large has been terribly against concealed weapons claiming that someone will get hurt..so a law enfrocement officer is the one to hurt someone. I guess they knew not to trust them.

I have a hard time believing law enforcement officers are professionals in any way pertaining to firearms.
