Hollywood just doesnt care what Americans want. That is one reason why the awards they give each other are irrelevant.
Is it me - or was someone’s DAMN cell phone goin’ off A LOT during the telecast ???
Did you see that a doc about Islamic treatment of women also won. Nice!
Find a new schtick.
well.... you DID post on the Oscar thread...
Surely, there is a birther thread somewhere???
Then ask more interesting questions.
I predict.. Viola.
I predict.. Viola.
It's Regis Philbin's........
I've been crank calling him all night.
No surprise...Meryl Streep wins.
then againg, them old white men DO LOVE Meryl...
then again, them old white men DO LOVE Meryl...
She is right....half of America did moan....”Oh, No not her”
Streep could simply fart and win an Oscar.
Before tonight she hadn’t won an Oscar in thirty years.
Second year in a row a non-Hollywood produced film gets Best Picture.
If Hollywood wants to make movies that people want to see, they should ask Tyler Perry for advice.
and it was filmed in L.A. too!
Not exactly... she won in 1998.
And, she's been nominated like 7 or 8 times since then.
Ugh, I agree! Clooney and that movie "The Descendants" was soooo overrated IMO.
I'm glad Jean Dujardin won for "The Artist", although I thought Gary Oldman's performance in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" was also Oscar-worthy.
In that case, Streep should introduce more beans into her diet.
ah. no, you’re right... Just NOMINATED... about a dozen times.
Take it back about Billy Chrystal. He ended up doing a really nice job.
I am happy for The Artist. Great movie!!!!!!
I agree about The Descendants. It is very overrated.
Either I’m confused or you are...
Billy did a great job; I said it from the beginning. But the sound technicians had problems.
Okay....so what are you talking about that I should take it back?
A very French Oscars, The Artist, Hugo, Midnight in Paris...the War Horse, took place in WWI France.
I’m quite often confused.
However, I had posted earlier in the thread that I was disappointed in Billy and I was saying, I take it back to that.
I ended up really liking the job he did.
David Cameron blasted the Iron Lady Film:
The Thatcher family declined to attend the screening:
The Iron Lady is a controversial film and full of Left wing propaganda (Friends and family have dismissed the drama as a Left-wing fantasy):
It was badly reviewed too and flopped at the box office. Streep’s performance was the only thing people liked.
Thanks for clearing things up!
Billy had a few slow moments but overall did good. Some people might think he took no risks compared to other hosts. But the Academy is probably satisfied and even relieved with his “steady” hosting tonight.
There was a live thread?? I looked for one but didn’t see it. Missed you all!
I didn’t care for War Horse at all. I like Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tin Tin more.
I missed the opening...and then realized it was probably good coming from Billie C.
can I find it somewhere?
Funny!! Ha ha ha ha! You need to be on the AI thread!
Last year’s Best Picture: An English dude who couldn’t speak.
This year’s: A French dude no one could hear.
Here we are at the Chapter 11 Theater (Kodak).
It was very funny.
Billys opening song was funny, but the sound guys had the music too loud...could not hear all the words he was singing.
Did they? I thought it was just my baby “chatting” in her bouncer. I couldn’t hear well either, even at volume on 27!
Sounds like A Hollywood thing to give her a Oscar then.
It was very funny.
Not to the folks at Kodak /sarc ...
I was AMAZED when I saw that “Undefeated” had won the Oscar for Documentary, thinking how on earth could the Academy have voted for Sarah Palin’s movie. Then I saw that it was about some sports team. Bah.
She is right....half of America did moan....Oh, No not her
Yep. I was one of them. I hear the thatcher movie was more about her slipping into Alzheimer’s than her historic partnership with Reagan to bring down the evil empire. She might have been good but she probably was happy to downplay why thatcher was important. It wasn’t because she could stand up to the boys. It was because she had a worldview of freedom and put her worldview into action.
Haven't seen the flick - just clips ...
BUT, I have a Brit friend who says that Streep's portrayal of Thatcher's mannerisms were spot-on and some of the historical scenes were TOTALLY accurate ...
HOWEVER, the script DID portray her INACCURATELY in many spots ...
He did say that Streep DID deserve the Oscar for having TOTALLY embodied Thatcher - kind of like Helen Mirren in The Queen ...
Most likely it is posted on Youtube by now. Hopefully, it’s not blocked by ABC network.
Youtube.com is the best place to look for videos.
Interesting... thanks for those “Iron Lady” links in #129, Mozilla.
I really liked "The Artist". I'm still not convinced it was "Oscar-worthy", but I liked it. Really liked Jean Dujardin in the film... I thought he deserved the Oscar.
Anyone see the snarky Oscar comments on this website?
I don't know anything about this site - got it from a Drudge link. Some pretty interesting stuff posted there.
A person with any class would have declined the role.
What did she need it for - her big break?
Her award was for lending her star name to their sick propaganda.
Not me hoss
My fetishes run more the lines of Louboutins...thigh highs...and elbow length satin gloves
Maybe a nice hat too or a Venetian mask
I should a been Helmut Newton
Get my drift?
