Posted on 02/29/2012 7:21:05 PM PST by red flanker
Drudge links to Hot Air article about indications Newt rising in national poll.
“Our only hope is Newton Leroy Gingrich. The anti-Obama.”
** President Newt Gingrich-”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”
I always get Freddie and Fannie mixed up. The Dems will run the ads, to show Newt as taking both positions (Newt the flip flopper) but the ads will actually be aimed at the base.
Newt, probably does have the serial adulterer vote sewed up. They have been looking for a candidate since 2000.
Newt should probably take down that link to “Ashley Madison”. It’s not helping.
I'm sure you would have leveled scathing remarks to a number of founding fathers of this nation who did not meet up with your sense of greatness.
Hahaaaahaaahaaaahaaaaaahahaha! You my friend have drank the MSM kookaid.
Good grief. I like Sarah fine, but you’re not seriously going to say she could go up against Newt in a debate? Seriously?
Geeze. Take the blinders off.
I hope this is an honest move upwards for Newt. And I hope he’s able to take some of Romney’s voters from him.
But I’m afraid you’re right. Even though Romney flooded the market with trash, it did not stick to Santorum well enough to give him a comfortable winning margin. Neither Newt’s nor Santorum’s voters want to vote for Romney. But some will vote for each other’s candidate. So Romney figures the way to defeat the enemy is to split them down the middle. If Newt gets too high, Rombots know they can dump enough trash to keep him under control. So they boost Newt’s standing in order to peel off some of Santorum’s voters when he gets too high up in the polls.
I can just see his manipulative minions planning this. The way to defeat it is for Newt and Santorum to split up the delegate map and work together. But I don’t think that is going to happen. At least I’m sure Mitt is counting on it not happening.
Santorum sucks with women and Catholics once they see him, it was they who kicked him out of his Senate seat.
Gingrich can handle anything thrown at him, Santorum can’t, for one thing Santorum has never had to, Newt has lived his entire adult life doing that since he was the face of conservatism and it’s leader.
Being a born again Catholic will appeal to women, Catholics, and Hispanics in a national race against Obama, Santorum eventually turns off even those of us who are social conservatives.
Santorum only got 42% of the white Catholic vote, and 39% of the female vote when they ran him out of the Senate.
Is that a picture of Newt, after his last Freddie Mac check bounced. Ron paul’s a nut, but at least he’s an honest nut.
Don’t get childish on us. Gingrich was the second half of the Reagan revolution, if he ever criticized Reagan it was for not being conservative enough.
Santorum is a true liberal endorser.
“In a few short days, Republicans from across this country will decide more than their party’s nominee. They will decide the very future of our party and the conservative coalition that Ronald Reagan built.
Conservatives can no longer afford to stand on the sidelines in this election, and Governor Romney is the candidate who will stand up for the conservative principles that we hold dear,” said Senator Santorum.
“Governor Romney has a deep understanding of the important issues confronting our country today, and he is the clear conservative candidate that can go into the general election with a united Republican party.”
Is Newt pretending to be Conservative again? I bet he's laughing his K-Street, insider Washington A$$ off at all the suckers who think he's an "outsider".
Obama is not that smart. Clever and devious, maybe but not overly intelligent. I bet his raw IQ is 110 tops. I also don’t believe every government employee in the country will vote for him. 60-70% probably will but not 100%. Don’t get me wrong, I still think Obama will win but it will be a result of extreme media bias rather than Obama’s intellect.
I want a conservative DC insider who knows where the bodies are buried and who is willing to play hardball.
I’m sticking with Newt, “baggage” and all.
Whatever you're taking, be careful with it.
You and about 5% of the general electorate put that first.
That's the margin of victory/defeat in the last several elections. Maybe more.
And many of us small (l)ibertarians would love to discuss the requirements to win your vote with a dirty rotten scoundrel who will represent your interests.
If past sin disqualifies a man in the eyes of the Social Conservative, who can qualify?
Once we shift to relative merits, do not other qualities count?
One of the most famous conservatives in American history? The conservative who was handed the Reagan torch by Nancy Reagan? The conservative who ran the movement during the 90s after largely creating it?
The conservative endorsed by Jim Robinson of freerepublic? I think Newt gets to call himself conservative.
Whatever you’re taking, be careful with it.
Thanks for your concern- lancey; but I assume you’re an intelligent person- so, if you have a gripe, why not just articulate it?
Most people who moved their support to Rick couldn’t see through Obama’s strategy to deliberately make contraception an issue in order to make Rick rise in the polls. We’re in this vote-splitting mess now because people fell for Obama’s smoke and mirrors and abandoned the ONLY conservative who can defeat Romney, Newt Gingrich. The ONLY chance we have now is for people to move back to Newt QUICKLY and make Santorum the afterthought he was before.
Dede Scozzafava Endorsement
Newt has admitted it was a mistake to back Dede Scozzafava, the Republican nominee in the 2009 NY-23 special election.
Whether it was helping to build the Republican Party of Georgia back when Democrats controlled the entire state or leading the nationwide effort in 1994 to break 40 years of Democratic rule in the House, Newt has always tried to advance the cause of a truly conservative Republican party. This has always meant supporting the most conservative nominee possible as selected by Republican primary voters.
Therefore, Newt will almost always back the nominee of the Republican party and not back an independent candidate in a race against a Democratic candidate.
Newt still believes in this principle, however, he has admitted it was a mistake to back Dede Scozzafava, the Republican nominee in the 2009 NY-23 special election. Although she was the Republican nominee, the problem was that Republican primary voters did not pick her, the local party leaders did, otherwise her liberal views would have prevented her from becoming the nominee. The Conservative Party candidate whom Scozzafava was running against, Doug Hoffman, recently remarked about Newts endorsement of his rival, I would advise other conservative republicans: Dont hold this against him.
Performs well? You think losing the Senate by 18 points to the voters who know you best is "performing well?" That's some fuzzy math you're using there. If you haven't noticed, Santorum spent a lot of time at the bottom of the polls in this primary and is on his way back. The February fluke is over and Newt has learned all the valuable lessons about how to deal with negative attacks and will not misstep again.
A district 23 endorsement would be nothing in a general election, people would not even know what they were getting at, endorsing Romney could have a little effect though.
Here are some who endorsed her.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas) and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is in charge of recruiting candidates to run next (that) year and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas).
This poll is no fluke. I analyzed the AZ and MI exit polls in the below thread and also found Newt’s support doubling and tripling on the final day of voting. Considering there was NO wind at his back in states he wasn’t even competing in, that on top of the Gallup spike means he’s got something really solid and real driving his numbers:
Keep in mind though that Newt suffered because he was outspent 12 to 1. That will not be true in the general election. We will probably have a pretty even playing field. Newt's platform is certainly business friendly. He should have no problem earning money once the choice is down to Obama or him. And I don't think Obama is going to quite get the billion they were hoping for. Also, free media is going to be available to Newt just as much as it is to Obama. I guarantee you Newt can handle the tough questions. He's a big boy and I honestly don't even think Obama and the media can do any worse than this grilling over the coals he's gotten in the primary, when even his own friends turned on him. Newt's going to be ready for anything they might throw at him.
Since it is so heavy for you, take a load off, I will carry NEWTS "so called" baggage for awhile.
Well I'll be, it's really light as a feather now, as there is nothing in it anymore.
“...A man who cheated on two wives,..”
We’re choosing a politician to be a candidate for President, not a parish priest!
As for baggage, Barry Soetoro’s immigration file is firmly in the hands of Janet Napolitano, and the Democratic Party sent an operative to Jakarta, Indonesia, July 2007, to buy up all documents pertaining to Obama.
NOW, that’s baggage, and don’t forget BHO2 is loaded with it!
Not really. The article made me LOL! Newt is up by only two points from a previous poll!!! He’s toast. Accept it and move on with your life. By the way, neither Drudge nor Rush needs you. You’re fairly insignificant.
Newt and Palin are extremely close biographically...middle class upbringing, common sense conservatives, patriotic spirits, have a streak of populism that pisses off the establishment elites, got slammed by the media as being worse than Hitler after they rose to national prominence, got attacked with bogus ethics charges by Democrats, and eventually resigned in part because of the constant harassment and in part because they had better financial opportunities outside of government once they became household names.
I just don’t see a reason to have them fight each other. They’d have the kind of dynamic Newt and Cain did. They would obviously like each other and agree on a lot, but Newt would win overall due to having a greater command of facts, figures and history.
How do you know his wives didn’t cheat on him?
I will repeat myself, neither Rush nor Drudge need you.
The fact is that Newt has much less money than needed and that when Newt was ahead, he completely blew it in Florida. He has a massive mouth that most people are tired of hearing.
LOL! Now I'm reminded why we raised today's OTHER Lazarus back from the dead! Sounds like you made good use of your free time during zot purgatory to catch up on your research.
Santorum does quite well among women, better than Newt of course. Santorum doesnt oppose the use of birth control, only the government forcing a church to provide it against its deeply held religous beliefs. Of course, the Newtbots, and Romneytrons, are happy to side with Obama on the issue of forcing the Catholic Church to provide Abortion pills, if it means they can falsely portray Santorum as trying to ban the pill. How do you think Women will warm up to a man that trades his wife in for a younger model every few years.
That’s bullsh#t! Newt was the first candidate who brought up the attacks on the Catholic Church regarding Catholic
charities having to close ther doors because of the gay agenda and he also smacked the meda’s blatent discrimination towards the Church.
Rick Perry was the second canddate to defend the Church.
Do you know what CINO Ricky said? “Um well, it’s up to the individul states to decide”.
Tricky Ricky only recently grew some balls and still does’nt know how to defend religeous liberties. All he does is stammer and stutter making no sense what-so- ever.
Newt the “newbie” Catholic has a much better understanding of the Catholic faith. It’s astounding!!!
Newt fires up the conservative base like no one else. Tea Partiers will be out in droves to support Newt to beat Obama once he begins trouncing 0 in the debates!
God created Newt w/this moment in time in mind. It’s fate. What a helluva thing it’s going to be to watch.
My “gripe” is that you state matter-of-factly that Rush is trying to restore his “credibility”. The inference is that he lost his credibility somehow. If that’s your opinion, why don’t you articulate where you came up with that lame idea?
If Newt’s a liberal, then he must be the most incompetent liberal to ever enter into politics. As Speaker in the ‘90s, all he had to do was rubber-stamp everything Clinton wanted to pass if he wanted to promote liberalism. Is your argument based on assuming that Newt ACCIDENTALLY governed as a consistent conservative during the time that he was the 3rd most powerful politician in the country for 4 years? This whole “Newt is a liberal” meme is the most implausible, ridiculous, stupid, tired, failed argument. It’s been thoroughly debunked since the GOP-E like Ann Coulter and George Will started pushing it (they did the same to all of Romney’s primary opponents in 2008...it’s always pure manufactured BS). Talking as if you still believe it now just makes you look like a pinhead.
it wouldn’t be much of a debate, because Newt & Sarah are cut from the same cloth....it’s difficult to understand why you like Sarah, but denigrate Newt. Herman & Newt are the reasons Sarah didn’t get it, because those two could carry the message. me thinks you are diametrically opposed to Sarah’s hopes, &/or you’re cornfused. & i’m from Missouri. please Show-Me where i’m wrong.
I will repeat myself, neither Rush nor Drudge need you.
Stop repeating yourself Davey, it’s unbecoming and besides, I heard you the first time. I was just going to ignore you, but I concluded that you’d just repeat yourself again; so I
decided to interpose an intervention- for your sake.
Now, you say they don’t need me (twice) ... That’s great news...because I certainly don’t need them. Seems like a square deal to me, right? So, what’s your gripe?
Oh, wait-—you’re a Rush Robot! I apologize- I didn’t mean to offend your mentor. Dittos, Davey, Ditto.. or whatever he says.
Hey Davey, Rush had a good one the other day- I’m sure you were listening right there by your Philco. He told you and the rest of his audience, right to your faces, they were a bunch of rubes and yokels. And guess what- they didn’t even turn off the radio. Amazing, huh? It’s true- don’t doubt me on this, Davey.
What will he have you believe tomorrow?
He might be but he has one severe Problem and a lot of Freepers are starting to see it.
The MSM have set trap after trap for Santorum and he still falls into it. In fact in the Last Debate Newt tried to Rescue him before he walked into the Abortion trap. Guess what two minutes later Santorum has both feet firmily in the trap and can't get out.
Some of us thought the Double digit lead in MI was a Trap. Even though you can argue he managed a tie where it counts that double digit lead evaporated overnight. I think in the long run he lost more than he gained.
I think his double digit lead in OH now is a trap as well.
I personally think OH is gonna be real close but only time will tell.
Vin, take 'heart' about this response. It is a truth that the PROUD GOP 'e' considers 'conservatives' insignificant. Liberals know this about the PROUD, the right arm of the same political beast. Rush and Drudge are no different than the PROUD. Their first and foremost priority is that altar of the golden bull. AND it has been we 'conservatives' that made them wealthy. Right now I could use a 'refund' from both Rush and Coulter.
With all the free advertising Santorum has been given by Rush he ought to be number one in the votes and polling. I actually think Rush prefers Romney, but, hopes to remove Newt from the political picture by daily picking up Rick from his childish gaffes.
RUSH is no longer one of US if he actually ever was. I mean, 'really', the survival of this nation is not hinged to RUSH and his overblown ego.
“The inference is that he lost his credibility somehow. If thats your opinion, why dont you articulate where you came up with that lame idea?”........i, too, am all ears.
Please see my post #88—Lancey. If that’s unsatisfactory or insufficient as an articulation, I’ll be happy to further elaborate.
Geeez, all you had to do was ask. Gosh, you ditto-heads are touchy.
I have to agree. Rush certainly has lost a lot of “credibility” with me. It’s not that I’m mad that he hasn’t endorsed a candidate, it’s that I’m mad he wasn’t ontop of the Newt smears on bloody Thursday. Other people did the hard work of fighting that, while our “leader” Rush Limbaugh provided commentary, and not very good commentary at that.
JMT,, have you been reading my posts over the last few weeks???-:)
He is for Romney- has always been for Romney.. And these ditto-heads can’t see it! Everything you posted is right on the mark!
Drudge is in the tank for Romney. His biggest threat right now is Santorum because of Ohio. It serves Romney’s camp best to pretend like Newt is resurging right now so he can beat Santorum in Ohio.
You may be right cd, but I don’t think so. I posted a link above- Romney just doubled down in Ga— another $500K negative ads against Newt. Romney has no chance in Ga— the ads will only help Rick.
The Romney Camp wants Newt out-— maybe drudge didn’t get the message.
For me Rush grated me way back when he 'joked' about leaving the US in the event things got tough for him personally. AND recently he has said he would let US know when it was time to move to New Zealand. And 'bloody Thursday' was pulled off in large part by Rush himself, reading that Abram's bilge as IF it was FACTs. I am done with wasting my time listening to Rush infomercials, and relying on his outsourced research staff. I could care less what the Jon Stewart media has to say about Rush... And he says that Newt has an ego.
I cannot say that I have or have not specifically read your posts. I am responding from what I have heard out of Rush's own mouth over the years. He prefers Romney... see Rush is as much a 'class warfare' guy as anybody... I remember after his Elton studded wedding him saying he only likes to be around people who are the best at what they do.... Well I read the devil is the best at what he does!!!
No worries Hank- my pleasure.
