Short Bus's Obama Birth Certificate Defense Is Officially ZOTTED
The Stir ^ | 3/2/12 | Sasha Brown-Worsham

Posted on 03/02/2012 9:17:36 AM PST by Short Bus

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona is bound and determined to make sure we never forget the embarrassment of the birther movement. Most of us would love to put that ugly little racist blip in our history -- a time when conspiracy theorists and fools alike accused President Barack Obama of not being American. But Arpaio, a sheriff in Phoenix, Arizona, just won't give it up.

Can we say beating a dead horse, people? Sometimes it seems like certain politicians just do things to help out Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and Bill Maher. After all, how else does anyone explain Arpaio's inane and insane assertion that Obama, a man who produced his birth certificate last year, isn't American?

See his ranting [here].

"Forgery or fraud may have been committed," says Arpaio. Ooooh no! Are ghosts and goblins real, too, Sheriff Arpaio? How about the Loch Ness Monster? Do you go visit old Nessie on your days off from enforcing the laws of Arizona?

In all seriousness, this is vile racism plain and simple. In a place like Arizona, it's no surprise -- after all, many politicians there (including Arpaio) hold rather Draconian views on immigration -- and it's disgusting. And it's getting old fast.

For all you doubters for whom book learning was apparently a challenge, here are the facts: President Barack Obama was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961. He has produced both a certificate of live birth during the 2008 campaign and the long-form certificate last year. Neither has been disproved.

So why is this still going on? Arpaio seems like a joke, but, according to Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt, Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney doesn't think so. Yesterday LaBolt tweeted:

Romney has called Arpaio for his endorsement, his aides called "weekly" and Arpaio was his honorary Chair in 08.
That's embarrassing. The fact is, most people agree Arpaio is a few cards shy of a full deck, but here we are still talking about him. Is this an alternate universe? Why am I guessing this guy is the type of person who stays at parties hours after they have ended asking for more chips and guacamole? Dude, the party is over, the ship has sailed, and you are beating a dead horse.

Sadly, there aren't enough cliched ways to say IT'S OVER to make it any clearer to this guy.

Results from the Science Olympiad were disappointing, to those with ambitions. The high school team did not qualify for the state tournament, although the middle-school team (which had a full complement of experience competitors) did.

Tom reported that the Experimental Design event was set up differently from the way it was described, and the way it was done previous years, so he and his group had practiced the wrong way. He said he knew most of the Genetics information, which is good, but some competitors probably knew all of it. I haven’t heard from Elen about geology yet.

Also, Tom lost $20 I’d given them for expenses, sigh. A Random Act of Kindness toward whoever found it ...

Now it’s on to the next thing, “Envirothon,” a competition organized by the state Natural Resources department. Tom has learned all about North Carolina’s water resources, including those aquatic microorganisms you don’t want to know about when you’re near water!

Interesting.
There’s a free online wastewater some-sort-of-certification course for the state (TN) that I started going through in 2008, but that got lost in the shuffle of cross-country activities. Anyone who has taken micro looks at the world in a whole different way after completing the course, so I’m not surprised about little wiggly things in the water. (The artists’ renderings of Giardia were actually cute-looking.) That’s why we have ceramic tile and stainless steel throughout the house—as little carpet and upholstery as possible. After having read the description of a contract killer’s home environment, I decided to soften the decor up a little with some wood and tumbled slate. Since we’ve always had dogs and cats, I figured the place was germy enough without adding extra stuff, but you can’t be too careful w/all this profiling jazz going on lol!

Actually, it’s because I broke my glasses a week or so ago. I have an old pair that I’m using, but I can’t drive with them...no depth perception.

Howdy RAC. Obama is on an upcoming episode of Pawn Stars. He tries to find out how much he can get for the Constitution. They say it is very valuable and he should hang on to it. He responds he’ll take whatever he can get for it, because he has no use for it.

Kathleen is doing great - getting very fat. We slept reasonably well the last two nights, too. I hate having to spend the night on the sofa listening to the cats fight!

How was your trip?

Aaaaaaw. Anoreth has a boyfriend, but she has worlds to conquer (and years of baby-care already behind her), so I probably won’t have grandchildren until Tom (now 15) is old enough.

I’m 45 now, and a man in the library the other day thought I was Kathleen’s grandmother. (Very gray hair ...) The really odd situation was when someone asked if she was my grandchild *while I was nursing*. That would be quite a feat!

Sara was 28 when she had her first, Justin was almost 28 when his first was born. I was 26 when Sara was born.

So someone thought you were granny wet nurse. people are dumb.

Yes, some folks just aren’t thinking. A 45-year-old can have a grandchild without anyone’s being a terribly young parent (23 and 22), but if someone’s nursing a baby, it’s definitely hers!
