Has anyone else gotten a survey from the Census Bureau entitled "The American Community Survey"?
BTW, I have received no less than FOUR reminders that I am required by law to fill this out and send it back in. Do you think if I neglect to fill out the personal information that they will toss me in jail?
I received one. I filled it out, ONLY because I did not want them hassling me about the activist things I do. But you are right to many personal questions.
I received one right after the last census. Did not like the questions at all - it is no one’s dam business what time I leave for work every day, etc. I did not fill it out & I did not return it. So far, they haven’t come and kicked my front door in.
I am going to send it in as-is. To hell with them if they don't like it.
That's pretty much the way I feel about it.
If it wasn’t sent certified mail, return receipt requested, who’s to say you ever received it?
If you ignore them, they will go away.
I got one during the last census time....
I answered that there were 2 adults and 2 children at the address. They got NO other information.
Eff ‘em!
This is the survey on which unemployment and labor participation statistics are based. I’m not offering an opinion on whether you should answer it or not — just identifying what it is. It’s sent out each month to about 60,000 households.
I tossed mine last time around.
Got a personal visit from two census workers. They tried making nice by telling me my 3 shepherds were beautiful and asking what I fed them....Apparently, “Census Workers” was not the correct response.
Another intrusive survey arrived in my mail a few weeks ago.
I expect another visit.

POST OF THE DAY POST OF THE DAY POST OF THE DAY
The census law requires only 1 statistic, number of people.
I have received these in the past along with the long census form and NEVER filled out anything but number of people.
The vile ruling elite (both parties) use this information to carve up their districts to be most favorable to their re-election and not for the noble purpose of identifying areas where government services are needed.
If political parties were forbidden access to this information I might be more inclined to give the government information to be used to plan for roads, water, sewer etc but the main use today is redistricting to assure re-election
If I did get one, it would go in the same place the census went.
“...but I refuse to fill out my name, birthdate,...”
Did you see the UPC symbol on the forms? They’ve already got your name, birthdate, medical records and every post you’ve made on FR, etc.
I tossed mine with the other junk mail last year and haven’t heard a word since. It’s a test to see just how much info the sheeple are willing to voluntarily give up. Believe me, they know everything about you already.
If they do visit, just tell them you never got it. Maybe it got stuck in one of the junk mail catalogs that you threw out?
Ignore it. I did a couple years ago, and they finally went away. I had to ignore knocks on the door and a few phone calls over a two week period.
They don’t prosecute or fine you for failing to respond, but since I’m a pollster, I respond for fun. It’s entertaining to see how “truthful but not helpful” a response can be written. For example, I don’t have running water because none of the taps were on when I answered. I’d rather mess with them than ignore them, but either option is worthwhile.
YET!
der 0berFuhrer Emperor Hussein 1st will be looking into these matters and re-indoctrinating stubborn peasants once he is crowned dictator for life in November. The IRS and Homeland inSecurity will be given your name for further investigation.
I filled out the number of people in the household and wrote that I would consider the rest after I had been read my Miranda rights.
Congratulations. You are one of about three million people that recieve this form each year.

“Apparently, Census Workers was not the correct response.”
LOL!
First, unless I am mistaken, the Census only requires the number of people at a given household.
As for Miranda Rights, “Can and Will” not “Can and may be considered” or “What you say can and will be used in your defense”.
Will be used against you. Innocent or not.
I appreciate everyone's response. I don't like to be bullied into doing something I don'tto, which is what they attempted to do. Screw 'em.
Census, yes. To an extent. Community Survey? Pound sand...

I received one and never mailed it because the questions were too intrusive. I called and talked with two of their personnel on the phone. They were extremely courteous and told me I did not have to answer any questions I was not comfortable with.
The only people on the BofD I recognize are Judy Woodruff, Vernon Jordan, and Warren Buffet.
You can refuse individual questions if you are uncomfortable with them. That way you completed the survey for the most part, but if something is too personal, refuse that question.
No, the unemployment is a different survey. It’s Current Population Survey that gathers employment data.
I got one and called them to tell them I would not be returning it. The woman on the phone said “but that’s how we know where to build roads”. I told her that we have city councils and a state government for that. Then she asked me for the tracking number on the back. I said “lady, you’re dealing with a Rush Limbaugh fan” and hung up. Good thing I was on an untraceable extension at work.
They will call and visit but if you can not answer your door or the phone you don't have to talk to them.
They used to threaten a fine but in all these years they never followed thru with that.
We got it a couple years ago, refused to answer and they finally left us alone.
Running water?
I bet FDR put that question in there.
I stand corrected.
I received one last week. I just opened it today to fill it out.
holy crap
