Heart-broken grandmother refuses to think of five-year-old ‘transgender’ grandson as a girl

ESSEX, March 5, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Jill Recknell is mourning the loss of her grandson, despite the fact that he is alive and well. It’s just that, according to five-year-old Zach Avery and his parents, he’s not her grandson anymore. He’s her granddaughter.

Zach’s family, who live in England, says that he was a normal boy up until last year, when he became obsessed with the cartoon character Dora the Explorer and started dressing in girl’s clothing.

“He just turned round to me one day and said, ‘Mummy, I’m a girl,’” Theresa Avery, Zach’s mother, told the Daily Mail, when the family went public last month with Zach’s story. “I assumed he was just going through a phase and left it at that. But then it got serious and he would become upset if anyone referred to him as a boy.”

After a psychologist diagnosed him with “Gender Identity Disorder,” the family has asked everyone to treat him as a girl.

Theresa and her husband Darren say Zach’s school has been “really supportive.” They have told his fellow classmates that their son has the body of a boy, but the brain of a girl. The school created gender-neutral lavatories for him, and the family hopes he will be able to use the staff toilets when he gets older.

But Recknell, Zach’s maternal grandmother, says she cannot get on board.

“I’d rather see him kicking a football than parading in a pink dress,” she told People. “He was born a boy. It says so on his birth certificate.”

The situation, she says, has made many of the normally joyous aspects of being a grandparent painful for her.

“Grandmothers love seeing photos of their grandchildren growing up but I could never bear to look at a picture of Zach pushing a pram or cuddling a Barbie,” Recknell told the news service.

Gift-giving occasions are particularly difficult, she confided: “I could never bring myself to send a doll or girl’s clothing – it would seem so wrong.”

“The whole situation is heartbreaking for me to be honest and has left me in tears,” added the grandmother of seven.

Recknell is not the only family member with reservations. Her son, Jay, says that his nephew’s transformation has divided the family and raised concerns about Zach’s parent’s decision to go public.

According to the Daily Mail, the Averys are now negotiating with a tabloid newspaper to sell Zach’s story to them.

Zach’s story comes amidst reports that the number of young children being labeled “transgendered” is on the rise, with clinics even catering to such children and providing “treatment” that can involve being administered puberty-blocking drugs to stop the onset of puberty, and subsequent “hormone therapy” to help the child look like the opposite sex.

In one famous case reported on last year, a seven-year-old boy who now says he is a girl was allowed to join the Girl Scouts.

Before you accuse Granny of not raising her kids right let me just tell you all this story. I spoke to a woman who cried when she told me that her grown kids "accept all this homosexual stuff and other things. It saddens me because I did not raise them this way". Her grown kids mind you were teaching her grandkids that homosexuality, among other things was just fine. This Grandmother did not know what to do or where she went wrong. Only that "she did not teach them that".

Yeah, that's because he's NOT a girl.

When I was a toddler, I was obsessed with Bears. Thank you God for protecting me from sociopaths like those mutilating this poor young boy!

Does this fall under the category of calling evil good? I know the article is referring to people in England but what is happening there and here also is conditioning. A conditioning not unlike what happened in Germany in the thirties. A large plurality of people then and there were convinced that evil was good. It is happening here and now.

Why is homosexuality and GID the only mental disorders that are treated by encouraging the abnormal behavior? You would never hear a doctor tell an OCD patient to keep washing their hands 30 times per day, or tell an agoraphobic that the best treatment is to stay inside. Yet we tell the transgeder to mutilate their bodies, take dangerous medications, and change their wardrobe.

Dora the Explorer is Hispanic, too, does this boy claim to Hispanic now too?

I liked to dress like a boy, climb trees, play football, play dodge ball and do other “boy” things at 5. It didn't make me a boy! I even started playing a kick ball game in my first communion dress. I thought my mother was going to have a heart attack. My sister and I played lots of baseball because there were boys in the neighborhood and that didn't make us boys, just good softball players in high school. And no our softball team wasn't a bunch of lesbian types. The Prom Queen was our center fielder.

Little kids like to pretend, it is just these parents, instead of seeing this as make beleive decided to renenforce the behavior by buying their son girls clothes and treating him like a girl which only confuses the kid even more.

This kid is going to owe that psychologist big time before this is over with. I’d volunteer to be on the jury when it finally comes due.

When I was little, I was crazed about horses. I constantly pretended I WAS a horse. I suppose now they’d diagnose me with Species Identity Disorder.

I have a tiny, tiny bit of sympathy for parents whose kids have told them from day one, since they could speak, that they were the opposite sex. That would be a hard situation to deal with. But this kid decided after watching Dora the Explorer (which is utter cr*p, btw) that he’s a girl? And his parents BOUGHT THAT????? Words fail me. Utterly.

I have to wonder if this is an issue with all of the estrogen mimicking chemicals like soy in the food and packaging that we are now seeing an increase in things like this. I mean there could very well be obvious parenting to blame, but we shouldn’t discount the effects of estrogen mimicking compounds that a LOT of people are exposed to on a regular basis.

That made me laugh. When I was a little girl I wanted to be a horse when I grew up. I was gently told that my fate was a different one. Those parents ought to be in the nuthouse.

Of course it's not the grandmother's fault. We can see quite clearly who's fault it is ....

Really?! Be a frikkin' parent and tell your boy what he is! For the love of Pete ... grow the hell up!

When I was 4 or maybe 5, I told my mom I was going to marry a horse. I actually remember this incident, but I have no idea what I had in mind. Not really too much, probably. Of course, my mother couldn’t let this pass, and I do remember her reply, “No, Lewis, you have to marry a ...” a what? a what? another human being of whatever gender or transgender? Of course not. “... you have to marry a GIRL.” she said. The time is close when such an answer could precipitate a chain of events.

I wish I knew which FReeper who said it but he was correct. “In America we used to stearlize the mentally ill, oh wait we still are!”

That is all this is! A sex change operation makes the person infertile no matter the original sex. Even if it is reversed the damage is done.

I have a feeling eugenics is at play here and this is no accident. They are meant to fall for this trap and made infertile.

“I have a feeling eugenics is at play here and this is no accident. They are meant to fall for this trap and made infertile.”

Why argue with natural selection?

Perhaps this just evolution cleaning the gene pool?
