Is Mitt Romney the new Bob Dole?
Politico | 3/08/12 | John Harris and Jonathan Martin

Many Republican political professionals are worried that Mitt Romney’s public image is now defined by a word never associated with winning presidential campaigns — weakness — and are urging him to take dramatic steps to recast his reputation between now and the fall. The advice, echoed in interviews with numerous influential GOP figures, comes as Romney finds himself tormented by a contradiction: With each passing day of the primary season, he is coming closer and closer to being presidential nominee — and seemingly further and further away from being president.

The frustrating thing is that Bob Dole could beat Obama this year:

if 0’s approval rating and unemployment stays the same.

Romney, on the other hand ......

—Is Mitt Romney the new Bob Dole?—

Does the pope wear a funny hat?

I’ve been calling him “Bob Dole III” since last year. A lot of us have.

If mitt gets nominated he will have a problem cause conservative Republicans like me just can not get thrilled at all to go out and work for this liberal RINO chump.
I’m f-ing fed up with the likes of Bob Dull, Juan McLame,
And all the damned Bush’s and Klintoons.
REAL conservative or go fish.
The Tea Party should adopt the Who’s We Won’t Get Fooled Again as a theme song on this one.;

No. Bob Dole wrote One Soldier’s Story while Mitt counter protested war protesters.

No Bob Dole ACTUALLY did serve his country in uniform...

Let's not forget Bob Dole's service in the Senate. While he drifted toward the end, when Ronald Reagan needed him in the 1980s, Dole was generally there front and center. Where was Mitt? At best, he was AWOL. However, Mitt has already admitted publicly that he didn't support Reaganism, so in all likelihood, he was on the other side. Not surprising since the Romney family opposed Ronald Reagan since he arrived on the national scene.

Please, people, wake up. We're being sold a bill of goods in Mitt Romney. I now know why my Democrat friends were so depressed in 1984. Sending out a dweeb sure loser as your party's nomination is depressing.

Is Mitt Romney the new Bob Dole?Bobdole was never actually a socialist. He presented as an actual "moderate" conservative, center-right, as it were. His instincts were conservative, he just thought that he could get there with a little government tweaking.

No, not even close. Bob Dole is an honorable man and a war veteran, who didn’t use his PAC to sh*t upon anyone deemed a threat to his political aspirations.

...And Dole came closer to victory in ‘96 than Romney will this year.

Heck, Mondale came closer to victory in ‘84 than Romney will this year.

Is the new GOP the old ‘let’s all get along’ GOP?

As in the "Get-Along Gang"?

As in the "Get-Along Gang"?

Professor Carroll Quigley was President Clinton's mentor, and in Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World In our Time the professor revealed that William C. Whitney (S&B) and others, in the late 19th century, developed a plan to control both major political parties through financial contributions and have the two main parties alternate power so the public would think it had a choice.

Professor Quigley commented:"...the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."[

It won’t be long till Mitt knocks over a hand rail and falls off the stage ala Bob Dole in ‘96. The MSM will be all over that.

Big problem is if Repubs do not turn out to vote for Romney.

Yes, indeed! America does not care for moderates and has continually rejected them. And, yet, the RNC is bound and determined to cram them down our throats.

If Romney gets the nomination, conservatives will stay home (me included). I cannot/will not vote for Romney, not even against Obama. There isn't a dime's worth of difference between them.

Dole was a pitiful progressive party hack... but he was a war hero... mitt has no positive traits in his life. His business prowess was in destroying what others had built... and doing it without regard for anything but the bottom line. That is not Capitalism... Capitalism is good... vulture Capitalism is not Capitalism... it is evil... and romney is evil.

“If Romney gets the nomination, conservatives will stay home (me included).”

The only way I would stay home and not vote is if Jeb Bush is given the nomination at a Brokered Convention. I still remember what he did to the Schaivo family and Terri.

What did he do to the Schiavo family and Terri? Do you know the REAL story??

I'm willing to bet that you don't, however, give it your best shot.

BTW, I like Jeb but, I agree, I wouldn't vote for him to be president.
