The company that sells ground beef treated with ammonia proclaims their meat mixture is good for America's schoolchildren, even though parents across the country are seriously questioning the safety of what has been dubbed "pink slime."
Beef Products Inc. (BPI) made the declaration about its "lean finely textured beef" or LFTB over the weekend to The Daily, which broke the news that the federal government plans to buy ground beef that contains 7 million pounds of the product in the coming year. After the report, "pink slime" became the most searched topic on the internet.
"Including LFTB in the national school lunch program's beef products accomplishes three important goals on behalf of 32 million kids," BPI spokesman Rich Jochum said. "It 1) improves the nutritional profile, 2) increases the safety of the products and 3) meets the budget parameters that allow the school lunch program to feed kids nationwide every day."

“Don’t ask what it is, just EAT IT!”
lunchboxes could make a come back.
The same kind of people (Jaime Oliver, Michele Obama) who got McDonalds and Taco Bell to stop using it are now giving it to the kids.
“It’s got electrolytes!!!”
Man: Well, what’ve you got?
Waitress: Well, there’s egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and slime; egg bacon and slime; egg bacon sausage and slime; slime bacon sausage and slime; slime egg slime slime bacon and slime; slime sausage slime slime bacon slime tomato and slime;
To give this to the kids and under an "eat healthy" pretext besides is disgusting.

They’re probably not wrong here. The questionable thing might be the ammonia treatment.
We eat way too much muscle meat in general to the point that gelatin (collagen drinks, google it) is actually used as an anti-aging treatment!
I wonder if they have to list Prions as one of the “healthy” ingredients.
Two words... “Soylent Green”...
The same process used to be used on poultry scraps to create the ubiquitous Chicken McNugget.
“I’ll have the egg bacon and slime - it’s not got much slime in it...”
Ahh! The “parts is parts and these parts are good for ya” appeal.
I might (maybe) believe them if it can be reliably verified that soylent pink is a staple in their and their families daily diets.
Based on the makeup of the crap I believe that it also has a possible laxative effect on some who consume it.
Aren’t bologna and hotdogs also made of finely textured pink meat products?
Exactly.
Pink Slime is unfit for human consumption period. Feed it to the damn manufactures and politicians that want to get off on the cheap, better yet, make kids bring thier lunches and do away with government immitation gruel altogether. Our kids bring the lunch every day.
Pink slime is PEOPLE!
