Sigh...to make a long story short, my wife has decided that she's getting out of Texas, with or without me.
She's listed California, Oregon and Washington as possible places where she'd like to relocate. Well, I'm allergic to the cold, so that leaves California.
Any input on possible locations in California where she can "Escape the redneck mentality" and I can still live around semi-sane individuals?
Aren’t you going to miss her?
Not in California! This is the LAST state anyone should move too. I can’t wait to get out of this state and I’ve lived here all my 66 years.
I’m in Washington and I want to move. Been here three years and I’m sick of the rain...
Warning, we’re putting a fence around California in a couple of months to keep everyone already in there inside. There’ll be no coming back!
Nah, she’s the love of my life. I’d follow her to Hell and back.
There has to be some nice spots in Cali?
Your wife would love it here in Hollywood. Black trannies roam the streets at night while pissed-off dikes’ berate you for being a right-wing conservative. Plus no one speaks English except for black and white people! It’s heaven for your wife...
Just say “bye-bye”......
Hell you say? Ever thought about Michigan?
She did say you were optional...
Very soon the only people left in CA will be illegal aliens and homosesxuals and democrats.
See post #5.
Where abouts in Texas? And why does she want to get out. I’ve been thinking of moving there.
Best wishes on your relocation. I’m glad this isn’t happening to me.
North County or East County San Diego
Not really...I live in Valencia, CA and really like the community, but the drones are alive and well everywhere in California. Can’t escape ‘em! LOL
If I owned hell and Oregon, I'd live in hell and rent out Oregon.
I always say, if I ever have to go back to the States, I’m going to Texas. Scratch Cali right off that list and stay put. You can call her every now and then.
Thank you for the first and (so far) only constructive comment. I’ll check those out.
All I can say about some of the other comments is that marriage obviously means little to some. I’m not thrilled about this, but I love my wife a helluva lot more than I love Texas.
Libs are everywhere. I thought when I moved to Kentucky, I’d be safe and sure enough, they were down there....demanding government health care and free condoms.
Don’t move to Los Angeles County (other than Beverly Hills if you can afford it). It’s run by and for Democrats. It’s a sewer. The freeway traffic is horrible, even on weekends.
I live in the next county north (Ventura) and it’s a lot better. More conservative, more Republican, cleaner. San Diego not bad either.
Placer County is conservative. If it comes to that, move up north, it’s my old stomping grounds, but Cali as a whole is nuts, and I highly recommend not considering it as an option.
What about the northern california? Are there any nice spots there?
“Any help at all would be appreciated.”
Move to Kalifornica? Huh?
You must be referring to perhaps ‘mental’ health help? Sarc..
Orange County, but not Santa Ana. :)
I need to move somewhere where I’m not stuck inside for ten months of the years. I’m done with the rainy weather.
Aw, I knew it wouldn’t be long before that comment would appear. I am back to the wall and heavily outnumbered here. Think Thermopylae.
Californians have saturated OR and WA and Mexico has saturated California. My choices when I retire, Idaho, Montana, or Barcelona Spain.
Check out San Diego. If you have kids, the San Diego Unified School District sucks. There are some good public schools in North San Diego County.

Thank you. Yeah, 90210 is probably waaay out of my price range. I’ve eliminated Marin County as well, as it seems very much anti-mountain biking.
Move to Florida, there’s no southerners there any more.
“Escape the redneck mentality”
I guess that rules out the South....
Compromise. Move to Austin Texas. Plenty of libs there for her.

Every sane person is escaping from Kalipornia! Why would you want to go into the cesspool??
What is her reasons?
Myself, I've lived in the San Gabriel Valley for a great part of my life - we're slowly being boxed in by the liberals who've taken Pasadena and Claremont, but the cities inbetween are for the most part reasonable. Most of the Central Valley upstate is ok, just in a horrible economic depression.
Orange County is so-so - costs are enough that I'd consider moving just about anywhere else first. And I hate to say it, but same goes for most of North County of San Diego.
Alas, if she's wanting to avoid ‘redneck mentality’ it does cut down options. Valencia/Saugus/Canyon Country are borderline. The sane areas of Riverside County are redneck central, same with quite a bit of the central valley. Victorville region would probably also be borderline.
All in all, based on your comments, your best bets are: eastern San Gabriel Valley, Orange County, Canyon Country, Hidden Hills/Reseda.
Stay away from the coast. That’s the real la la land. That is where most of the people are too.
hell...
sounds like you are being too literal there pal
Dude, gay men walk around naked and copulate in public in San Fransicko.
The rest of Kalipornia is not much better.
BTW, I hope you don’t need a job if you go there.
I’ve heard Temecula and Murietta are nice. Any opinion?
Take a hard look at the tax situation in Cali.
A very hard look.
You could go to Coronado but risk getting shot by some crazed Navy pilot or submariner.
Yeah, she’s pretty much limited it to three states. None of them in the South. She even has #1 daughter on board, who’s going to follow her mom with the grandkids. I’m stuck with this.
“Aw, I knew it wouldnt be long before that comment would appear. I am back to the wall and heavily outnumbered here. Think Thermopylae.”
You aren’t alone. There’s more of us here than some people realize. We just fight sneakier...
Victor Davis Hanson on where not to live in California. Scary stuff:

Forget Californicka.
I moved from Illinois to Colorado over two years ago and love it.
Low taxes. Yeah, Denver and Boulder counties are lib lands but Weld County is wide open and conservative. South of Denver is Colorado Springs, USAF Acadamy etc.
Weather is great, snow mostly in the mountains.
I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, left in 94. As a matter of fact, we were married there.
