A Russian military unit has arrived in Syria, according to Russian news reports, a development that a United Nations Security Council source told ABC News was "a bomb" certain to have serious repercussions.

Russia, one of President Bashar al-Assad's strongest allies despite international condemnation of the government's violent crackdown on the country's uprising, has repeatedly blocked the United Nations Security Council's attempts to halt the violence, accusing the U.S. and its allies of trying to start another war

if this isn't giving obama the finger, i don't know what is.

at some point, the US and the world are ging to have to come to grips with another world war. the wars in iraq and afghanistan were, for the most part, contained to those places. the middle east, except for israel and a small handful of arab countries, is incapable of peace given the rapid rise of the muslim brotherhood and enablers like iran. the sooner people realize that, the sooner the problem can be dealt with once and for all.

The U.S. cannot afford to be the world’s police force. There are atrocities all over the world every day in which we do not get involved. Why Syria? Why us?

Note that Russia did not seek permission or a consensus before deciding to act.

I’m with you 100% on not being the worlds police force. However, aproxy war is being waged again. The US vs Russia, China, Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood. I would like to say that countries like the UK, France, Germany and others will help. But their open borders and out of control immigration does not lend itself to helping in any major way. Unless they’re forced to by a certain demographic of their population OR forced out by that same demographic (ie Spain)

Russians are in Syria most likely to thwart Obama and his CIA's Syrian insurrection.

March 19, 2012 Deutsche Presse-Agentur|by Stefan Korshak MOSCOW/KIEV -- A Russian navy ship with a unit of anti-terrorist Marines aboard arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus on Monday, officials at Russia's Black Sea Fleet headquarters said. The military tanker joined a Russian naval reconnaissance and surveillance ship already tied up in Tartus, the Interfax news agency reported. Russia was maintaining the ship and troop presence in the Mediterranean port to demonstrate Kremlin concern over Syria's stability, and to assist in case of a possible evacuation of Russian civilians from the region, the report said, citing navy officials. The Kremlin has declared itself neutral in the ongoing conflict between the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian opposition, but has continued arms deliveries to the Syrian government via leased port
