Tim Tebow's arrival in New York already has upset one New York Jets quarterback -- Drew Stanton.
The veteran backup, who signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract last Friday to be the No. 2 quarterback, has asked to be traded or released, a league source confirmed to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.
The Jets are currently trying to trade Stanton, a source said.
Stanton is said to be unhappy because he was promised the No. 2 job and turned down more lucrative opportunities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs to play for the Jets. He received a $500,000 signing bonus, but he could have a hard time finding a new team because the backup jobs are filling up.
General manager Mike Tannenbaum confirmed earlier this week that Stanton was to be Mark Sanchez's primary backup, but the Jets changed the plan when they acquired Tebow late Wednesday night in a trade with the Denver Broncos.
"Tim is our backup quarterback. Mark is our starter," Tannenbaum said Thursday morning on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning."

I happen to think that Tebow would and will be a stabilizing influence in the locker room. He seems to have the virtue to smooth-over “disputes” such as what is happening in the Jets’ locker room.

Orton was 1-4. Tebow 7-4. Does this tell you anything about completion percentages? It should because Tebow was only throwing on obvious passing downs per coaches philosophy. Not so for Orton. But you're a big football guy, why do I have to explain the obvious?
Nah, the space where the disc is removed is filled with a piece of bone from your pelvis usually. This promotes the fusion of the two C-Spine vertebrae involved, reduces flexibilty and puts further stress on the discs that remain.
You’re making many sweeping, general statements you couldn’t prove if your life depended on it. Most all NFL QBs take a year or two to adjust to the speed of the pro game and other differences from the college game.
Tebow completed 64% of his passes in college. He might do that some day in the pros, or he might not, but it’s far too soon to draw any conclusions one way or the other.
And it’s still amusing to note that the great John Elway completed 47.5% of his passes his first year of 11 games. Maybe give us a detailed analysis of why his stats were so bad his first year.
whether or not Tebow would start would be a function of his performance at training camp.

I think john elway is an idiot, their back up qb has never played in the NFL, If any one else had taken a team 1 and 4 to the playoffs he would be there forever. Tebow wins and has always won . I hope he gets a chance in new york

JMO.... Peyton should have been hired by Denver as the Q-Back coach for Tebow and also as the Asst. Offensive Coordinator. He essentially ran the offense for the Colts, calling the plays and making the on field decisions.
Such a career change would lead to Offensive Coordinator and eventually a Head Coach position with a team. With his age and potential for a severe injury, I think that would have been much better for him and his family.
Oh... wait.... I forgot about the mega-millions for him signing a contract.

Interesting that Elway got Manning from the Colts, a team he refused to play for when he was the number one draft choice.
Orton was putting up over 20 points a game, Tebow under 17. Does this tell you something about the W-L record? It should because it shows that a team is a 53 man roster and more goes into winning and losing than the QB.
Actually all of my statements are based in the statistics readily available on the NFL web page, they’re already proven.
College numbers mean nothing. He’s in the pros now. He could have 100% completions in college it wouldn’t add one single completion to his pro stats. I never said he wouldn’t get better.
Elway’s were bad in the beginning for much the same reason Tebow’s were: he wasn’t actually a good QB, not at the NFL level. Elway grew and improved. So far Tebow has not. Don’t know if he will or not, I have made exactly ZERO statements on how Tebow’s career winds up, all my statement are about where he’s at as of the end of last season, which is: not a good QB, not at the NFL level.
There’s nothing to give up. You’re the guys who can’t seem to understand simple statements. Over and over I’ve pointed out that I’m not talking about future Tebow yet over and over you point to Elway’s eventual improvement like that proves anything. It has ZERO to do with what I’m talking about, which is past to present Tebow. Past to present Tebow is not a good QB, he throws a lot of balls at the grass and fumbles a lot. Could change, might not, not in my discussion, my discussion is NOW. Now maybe YOU should give up.

If Tebow was the starting quarterback... you might have an arguement... but coming off cold from the bench and expected to save a game or finish a game already won... you can’t expect his current stats to reflect his true potential. Make him a starter... then he will need to perform as one.
His current stats include 13 games as the starter, including 2 playoff games.
He already has as many playoff victories as Tony Romo.
This reminds me of the way the NFL treated Flutie, especially the Bills, when, as a perennial CFL MVP, he was benched for the “QB of the future,” Rob Johnson.
The future never came for Rob.
