It's going to get interesting at FR if Romney is nominated, innit??
Vanity | 23 March 2012 | Notary Sojac

Posted on 03/23/2012 8:05:11 AM PDT by Notary Sojac

I've put some heavy wear and tear on my keyboard making the point here that it's OK to loathe Romney, but to underestimate him is the act of a fool.

Those of us who have been on the "no Romney, no how!!" bandwagon here for the last year have had the luxury of believing that someone else would be able to keep Romney from the nomination.

That now appears increasingly unlikely, as we all are forced to face the fact that Freepers (and those out there who think like Freepers) are not a decisive majority in the Republican electorate. Not even close.

There are millions of long-time Republicans who are voting for Romney because he's a dignified, executive-looking gentleman who speaks in soothing patriotic platitudes. You don't have to like this, but it's true. (And no, they are not being operated by mind control rays from Karl Rove!)

So where does this leave us? Frankly I dunno. I would hope that those who advocate holding noses and voting for Romney don't get banned from FR. At the same time, I think it's very unlikely that I will vote for him. (I voted third party in 2008 in preference to McQueeg).

Absolutely. You have to wonder what would have happened had Perot run with a full slate of candidates in every state back in 92. Some of those people would have made it into office.

If you think Romney is a capitalist then you haven’t been paying attention.

As far as you calling my decision not to support him “childish”, well, sticks & stones.....

There’s no way on God’s earth I will vote for a pro-abortion, pro-gay “marriage” liberal. Ever. I don’t give a damn what the letter after their name is - D or R.

I totally agree - all I can think is they don’t believe that an unrestrained second term of BHO may well mean an end to any more free elections and WILL mean the death of our republic - the final nail in its coffin and something that’s been planned for a long time by many who have chosen B. Hussein as the Executioner.

Does anyone think really think Mittens, RuPaul, Santo or Newt plan to start a civil war (race, class, religious or any combination thereof), declare martial law and kill any dissenting citizens? That’s exactly what BHO’s been working on and it should be obvious to informed observers willing to think the unthinkable. Because that’s the reality awaiting us if we give BHO this election “on principle”.

Anyone on our side of the fence can be kept in line by more conservatives in both houses (and control of the Senate) - NOT true of the One.

You are going to be quite amazed at how many of us will absolutely refuse to vote for Romney. His despicable behavior to buy the nomination with zillions of dollars of slanderous attacks on the actually conservative and Republican candidates, his refusal to flay Ron Paul and vice versa, his entire "etch-a-sketch" political life, his gun-grabbing, baby-killing; his gay everything encouraging track record means that he is permanently foreclosed from seizing the GOP and he will certainly lose to Obozo.

If anyone does not want Obozo to serve four more years in office, then time is running out to stop Robamney which is the only way to beat Obozo. It is up to the GOP to decide whether or not Obozo gets four more years to destroy the USA or whether the GOP wants to suicide to nominate Mittwit. I have voted Republican in each and every POYUS election starting in 1968 and I assure you that I will not vote for any more RINOs and I won't be alone.

The worst nightmare is the destruction of the GOP as an effective opposition party, much less as a vehicle for conservatism. Those of you who do not take this seriously will be responsible unless you stop Robamney who is no better than Obozo on abortion, guns, marriage and the other issues that really matter. Those determined that defeating Romney is the first priority will not be deterred by his choice of running mate or boogie man fairy tales stories suggesting that he would appoint to SCOTUS anything better than Souter or John Paul Stevens or Herod Blackmun.

If this country simply MUST be destroyed, then let the Demonrats do the destroying.

Who do you think you're fooling? If you "give this election to Obama," it will be because you have no principles.

Happened a LONG time ago.

Most, if not all, of us are NOT “comfortable” with Willard. But how can we get our own guy nominated? Oh, there’s the problem - my choice is Newt, and if I recall, yours is Rick. And it seems we’re pretty evenly divided that way here on FR. And that’s not counting RuPaul people (who would probably vote for Mittens).

Romney benefits from our division. I’d rather see a convention decision.

But will I vote for our ultimate nominee, whoEVER that is, over the Evil One?

Oh, hell yes.

I won’t be voting for Romney! I’ll write in Daffy Duck before I’ll vote for Obama/Romney.

I may well wind up voting for you. I certainly won’t vote for Romney. You may well be right about the GOP. I lost my congressman (Don Manzullo) this week to an utterly dishonest moneyed blitzkrieg by House leadership offended by his refusal to support any more debt limit increases. The lies of his opponent Adam Kinzinger rivaled in preposterousness even those of Mitt Romney and his superpac. As you may have noticed, I am extremely angry with the GOP slime in DC. There is no US Senate race in Illinois, nor are any statewide officeholders to choose. Kinzinger will not get my vote any sooner than Romney which is to say never. My state legislators are brainless unprincipled hacks. It begins to look like you might be my only vote this year. Please don’t go around screaming. I have no doubt as to your principled approach to all issues of consequence.

That’s easy. Daffy Duck is a far more principled conservative than Romney = Obama.

You’re right - particularly your last sentence.

I despair over all who don’t get that or how lethal (literally) BHO is to America and its people (US!)

"It's going to get interesting at FR if Romney is nominated, innit??"

It will be interesting to see how much the "A-vote-for-a-third-party-is-a-vote-for-Obama" crowd will be tolerated.

I know for a fact I am not playing that game this year. I was suckered in last time and I swore it would be my last!

Not voting for Mitt, no way no how!

I lost my dear mother 5-1/2 months ago, my sweet kitty 1-1/2 months ago - will I lose my beloved republic 7-1/2 months from now?

I’ll do whatever I (legally) can to prevent that and I hope everyone else will as well. That means defeating The Wan who’s working to take America down by whatever means he deems necessary.

Wake up, my FRiends!

People get mad at me about it, but how do you explain how you supported the man who destroyed the United States. Is the excuse he wasn’t as bad as the other guy going to cut it?

I was with you on Rick and am with you on Newt.

Sadly, though (tragically for our country), your last sentence is also correct.

We have over 4 months to go & then, there is the convention. One step, one day at a time. None of us *really* knows what will happen. (The GOPe doesn’t either)
Do everything that you can for your candidate & have faith.
