I do that to all unsolicited credit card offers too. Haven’t had AARP knocking on the door since doing it to them several years ago.
They don’t like to pay postage twice — once to get it to me and again to pay for the bar coded envelope that comes back to them.
Works like a charm.

I enjoy putting those thru my *shredder*; makes me feel good! I’m going to do that with the CC offers, from now on. Thanks for reminding me. It’ll save wear & tear on that shredder. LOL.
