One person was killed and seven others were injured when a quinceañera in rural Ellis County exploded in violence, WFAA-TV in Dallas is reporting.
Police said four of the victims, including an 11-year-old, were shot, two were stabbed and two others were beaten outside a Ferris-area home early Sunday, the station says.
Officials said they believed the violence erupted when the party ran out of beer, WFAA reports.
It doesnt make sense in a sane world, Ellis County sheriffs Lt. R.D. White told the station. Thats why were trying to sort it out.
Officials said the violence apparently broke out between two different groups at the quinceañera, and family members turned against each other using guns, knives and even a brick, WFAA says. At least two shots were fired during the battle, which lasted no more than five minutes.
An adult male was killed during the fighting, the station reports. An 11-year-old was shot in the abdomen, but deputies expected him to survive.

Sounds similar to the Filipinos and their debutante day for Filipinas who turn 15 or 16 years of age.
“so what in the hell is a Quinceañera supposed to be???”
Dunno - but all too often is is a ‘thinning of the herd’.
It sounds like a Mexican birthday party that ran out of alcohol. Happens all the time.
When I lived in California, every time they had one of these parties on our street, there was a shooting.
Honest to God, It was like clockwork.
All cultures are equal.
