A funnel cloud was spotted south of us but it didn’t touch down. The clouds were so dark that there was no problem seeing the lightening.

News reported there were 2 or 3 areas of large hail. I’m sure there was damage to some of the orchards and vineyards. Hopefully it wasn’t very widespread.

only a few sprinkles of rain. Darn it!

Hi, Amy - please stay safe out there, Sorry I have been so scarce lately - we're facing frequent urgent and changing deadlines at work - I never know when I receive a task whether I'll still be working on it at the end of the day. We have depositions coming up next week and the client is in full panic mode. But I can't complain - it's paying the bills and keeping the wolf from the door. I hope to be here more in the near future.

We missed you, but I DO understand. Sometimes life gets in the way.

We seldom get a tornado but when we do, it is not on the ground very long. We have had some strange storms this spring.

Thanks for coming by when you find time.

Awake With His Word

April 12, 2012

My eyes fluttered open, but the room was still dark. It was too early to get up. I sighed, adjusted my pillow, and hoped for sleep. Unfortunately, a lengthy to-do list bombarded my brain. I needed to buy groceries, deliver a meal to a friend, answer e-mail, schedule a doctor’s appointment . . . .

If you’ve ever been overwhelmed and worried, you know how it feels to stare at the ceiling when you should be sleeping. The writer of Psalm 119 was no stranger to this experience. He wrote, “I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word” (v.147).

God’s Word delivered special comfort during the psalmist’s sleepless nights. Although he couldn’t make his problems disappear, he said, “My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your Word” (v.148). At night he reviewed God’s Word over and over in his mind. He concentrated on Scripture rather than his concerns. This practice allowed him to proclaim, “Oh, how I love Your law!” (v.97).

When worry wakes you up, remember, “The Word of God is living and powerful” (Heb. 4:12). Select a passage and mull it over. Our cares cannot compete with God’s Word!

If your soul is parched and thirsty
And you feel weighed down by care,
Go to God’s Word for refreshment—
You’ll find strength and comfort there. —Sper
Only God can still our hearts and quiet our minds.

Read: Psalm 119:145-152

I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word. —Psalm 119:147

Still raining in California's San Joaquin Valley.
So far, no thunderclouds in sight.
It is suppose to rain thru tomorrow.

There has not been a hail damage estimate yet but we had enough hail to damage several crops

Prayers for the valley farmers.

It's cold, windy but the rain has stopped for now and trying very hard to allow Mr. Sun to appear (don't think it's going to happen). So far we haven't had any hail or thunder but we all know how quickly that can change!

In spite of the weather, I hope your Thursday is going well!

HAPPY THURSDAY TO AMY’S PLACE!

I Am Of Ireland

‘I am of Ireland,
And the Holy Land of Ireland,
And time runs on,’ cried she.
‘Come out of charity,
Come dance with me in Ireland.’

One man, one man alone
In that outlandish gear,
One solitary man
Of all that rambled there
Had turned his stately head.
That is a long way off,
And time runs on,’ he said,
‘And the night grows rough.’

‘I am of Ireland,
And the Holy Land of Ireland,
And time runs on,’ cried she.
‘Come out of charity
And dance with me in Ireland.’

‘The fiddlers are all thumbs,
Or the fiddle-string accursed,
The drums and the kettledrums
And the trumpets all are burst,
And the trombone,’ cried he,
‘The trumpet and trombone,’
And cocked a malicious eye,
‘But time runs on, runs on.’

I am of Ireland,
And the Holy Land of Ireland,
And time runs on,’ cried she.
“Come out of charity
And dance with me in Ireland.’

William Butler Yeats

When The Journey Gets Tough

April 13, 2012

In August 2009, Blair and Ronna Martin lost their energetic 9-year-old son Matti when he was dragged to his death by a family cow. I had a chance to meet this Kenai, Alaska, family and share in their grief. And I know how tough this tragedy has been for them.

I also know that they are seeking God’s care and comfort for their pain. An observation made by Matti’s mom is valuable for anyone walking through one of life’s valleys. During one of her down times, Ronna was reading 2 Corinthians 1:9, which says that “we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.” She felt as if Jesus were telling her, “Ronna, I know the journey has been too much for you, and you are bone-weary. Do not be ashamed of your exhaustion. Instead, see it as an opportunity for Me to take charge of your life.”

When the journey gets too tough to navigate, 2 Corinthians 1:9 is a reminder to us that we don’t travel alone. We have the help of the One who showed us His power in the resurrection, and who will demonstrate His power again when He raises believing loved ones of all generations to eternal life. “My strength and my hope have to be in Christ alone,” Ronna said. That’s a truth we all need as we travel the journey God has for us.

When life’s journey gets so difficult
That it feels too much to bear,
Just remember, we don’t walk alone—
Our almighty God is there. —Sper
The storms of life remind us to take shelter
in the loving arms of our Savior.

Read: 2 Corinthians 1:6-11

We should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. —2 Corinthians 1:9

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

From an email on June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.

Wonderful words of truth! There is nothing more beneficial and powerful than God’s Word. He reveals it as we reach the point of growth to understand it.

Thank Thee, LORD, for thy Wisdom and grace, In Jesus name amen.
It is for us to look to thee for our answers.

RAIN! Gloruious rain, where is it and when is rain to fall on this city and the surrounding land.

Day before yesterday I ran to the post office just before 5 O clock. It sprinkled and I though it was a shower, the windshield wipers were needed. Went 7 blocks to the post office and noticed the pavement was not wet or showing any signs of rain. Like the cartoon ‘Charlie Brown’ that is in the comic strip, last week, was rained on ... just him where he was, ... It came to me that God answered my prayer for just a few moments and rained on me. Wonderful, if brief.

We are desperate of rain. Our water is limited to 2 hours once a week for the outside trees, etc. We did have snow at Christmas. But no rain for over a year. and drought before that. Simply devastating to the wild life and all growing plant and tree life.

LORD forgive us and show mercy on thy land and people, in Jesus name, amen.

There is much we do understand. How many are taken from us ... in accidents, diseases, disasters, etc., It happens in an instant and can not be reversed in this life. Our hope is in the Word and promise, and blessings, of the LORD. Our hope and our great longing depends upon God alone to come for us .

It will have to be green for me today, I only own 3 cotton dresses, and after spending the morning yesterday in Minor Med, only to be given the wrong drug, which works like 0, instead of the RX one I’ve been using for 2 years, but no longer is working. Ended up in the wee hours in the ER, skin fold infection erupted like wild fire, they sent me home with what they treat severe wounds and burns with.

Diflucan 2 pills 12 hrs apart.

silver sulfadiazine cream x 3 per day, only works for 2 hrs and burning is back. Could take up to 4 weeks to heal.

Lord, please give me a break, I can’t take any more health issues, especially since no one will fix a dang one of them that are fixable.

Hubby gets his gallbladder removed Wed, it is elective to prevent emergency removal later, several good size stones in it including 1 like a super sized grain of rice.

Happy Friday, Geo.

Like you, I thank God for the rain he gives us. I wish He had shared some of ours with you. Our rainfall is still below normal for the year.

BUT ... we’ve had WEATHER since Wednesday. The prediction is for more this afternoon. With the hail from Wednesday and yesterday, our agriculture losses are estimated to be in the millions. We have orchards with young tree fruit damaged and on the ground. I’m sure it will be finamcially devastating to California and our valley when the final estimates are in.

I pray for our farmers.

Father, thank you for bringing the much needed rain but please spare our farmers additional losses. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Was listening to the Whispering Bill Anderson Family Reunion and tonight was gospel night, mostly the old songs we seniors learned from church, which now mean naught to this last generation. I am not a big fan of contemporary gospel as it does not always appeal.

But this song by preformed by Gordon Mote really touched a nerve for all of us going through trials, tribulations and sickness. Some one set it to a beautiful video.

Hold Me UP, Gordon Mote (he did not write the song)
