WHY HASN'T RICH LOWRY BEEN FIRED YET?
http://www.freerepublic.com ^ | April 8, 2012 | Vanity

Posted on 04/08/2012 8:02:32 PM PDT by Lonesome in Massachussets

I've been a subscriber to NRODT since 1986, but Rich Lowry's mewling, whingeing, trembling mischacterization of Mr. Derbyshire's article is unacceptable. It is time for NRODT and me to part company. This is my Chuck Turner moment. I had subscribed to the Boston Globe, forever. But after they printed those fraudulent photos from Chuck Turner I got the motivation to drop my subscription. Well, I'll take the 50 bucks or so a year that NRODT costs and use it to support whatever enterprise has the savvy to scoop up Mr. Derbyshire.

Check out the Derb's website for his archived postings. He's also accepting donations for the first time, due to the cost of his cancer therapy.

Get over it.

Whites cannot challenge Blacks.

We concede the moral authority to do so at every site.

And the ones that don’t , you don’t want to be a part of.

You may remember that back in the 60’s Bill Buckley organized the “National Committee to Horsewhip Drew Pearson.” You got a memebrship card, signed by Buckley, when you subscribed or renewed. I still have mine somewheres, but have absolutely no idea where.

Derb’s column was a bit more than a “challenge” of blacks. Some of what he wrote was not only offensive, but just plain wrong.

Too bad he took it too far, because he made some good points.

I think that if the truth about Drew Pearson were printed, the Wash. Post would destroy all his columns they printed.

I suspect that he was more red than red, white and blue. His associations and stories reveal that. A story for another writer to do. I’m busy helping others with 3 books.

Also, check out Jack Anderson’s background. Full of lies and bs.

Really? Which parts were “just plain wrong” -

The only thing I saw “wrong” was the good samaritan part - and this was ADVICE on his part. I would help - knowing the risks. But the best advice = his = steer clear.

Why don’t you fill us in - which parts will you demonstrate as “wrong”.

His article (above) is set forth in numbered paragraphs.
Which ones did you find to be not only offensive, but just plain wrong?
And why?

Get a well-spoken black friend as cover is offensive, and wrong.

I’m sure that part was semi-satirical but it did not mix well.

Yeah, it ranks right up there with the Chris Rock video on “How Not to Get Beat Up by the Police” with the suggestion that blacks get white friends to ride with them rather than mouthy black friends. How did that mix with you? Derbyshire’s article just hit too many sore truth points for the girly-boys @ NRO.

Get a well-spoken black friend as cover is offensive, and wrong.

Maybe that was advice he was giving to the Democratic Party.

It was ADVICE -
And it was meant as an innoculation against PC crap.

Is that the best you can do? Claim it was “too realist”?

The guy went 100% against our weak PC culture - to the point of being fired immediately - and the best you got is “the drinks had too much ice”?

Paragraph 11.

Comparing human beings to “luxury goods, like antique furniture or luxury jets.”

The suggestion that only “intelligent and well-socialized” black people are worthy of association.

Sorry, but I know too many no-count Caucasians and have too many humble and kind black friends to read that dribble without speaking up.

If you don’t, widen your circle.

#13? IWSBs?

“In that pool of forty million, there are nonetheless many intelligent and well-socialized blacks. (I’ll use IWSB as an ad hoc abbreviation.) You should consciously seek opportunities to make friends with IWSBs. In addition to the ordinary pleasures of friendship, you will gain an amulet against potentially career-destroying accusations of prejudice.”

What would you suggest then? That if we wish to be diverse and inclusive, that we motor down to the housing project about 2:00 AM and attempt to befriend some gang-bangers or crack addicts?
They’ll think we’re there to buy drugs or trim. So if his advice to his children is wrong (and offensive), and they cannot seek out black friends who are not intelligent and well socialized, because this is offensive and wrong (to you) then they are pretty much limited to boys in the `hood.
Remember, this is supposed to be advice he is giving children.

I can see your point. An `IWSB’ made a favorable impression on Harry Reid who described him as presenting a favorable appearance and not speaking with a Negro accent. And we all know how that worked out.
I disagree with your objection. I think it is `knee-jerk’ political correctness, and I’m fed up with it.

I gave my daughter the talk about the dangers of black crime and how very large the criminal fraction of the black population is in the city where she goes to college.

That’s necessary, and realistic. It’s sad, and serious, and frightening.

You either start with a satirical approach like Chris Rock, and stick with it, or you start serious and stick with it.

Friendship ought to be about more than cultivating people who are useful to you. And with race being the painful issue that it is in our country, you surely shouldn’t use people because of their race. There’s a recipe for well-deserved mistrust and ill will.
