WLS’s local Roe and Rope Smoker show has the 2-6 time slot so there is no room for the Huckster. Their show also delays Hannity and Levin by 4 hours.

remember when Oreily’s show debuted?

that was supposed to be a rush killer or diluter too.

same with air america.

Huckabee’s tv show (pay off) is a snooze fest, why would radio be any different.

Having spent some time in radio and heard a lot of talent, I can tell you that in terms of vocal fluency, Huckabee is a true natural. His speech, both that which is read and that which is “off the top of his head,” is exceptionally well done.

I am not going to get into politics (which are not that well known to me) but I’m saying that he should do well in talk radio based upon his speaking ability.

Yes, he could do well but Rush still has a huge advantage.

btw acc. to Wikipedia:
>>The show, which is targeted at second-tier broadcast stations, will feature long-form interviews and discussions

Something you don’t get with Rush—interviews are very very
rare, nothing long-form (other than his monologues maybe). Rush’s show is caller driven

Question, please...

What was the reason for O'Reilly's radio show failing? I never heard it, but I remember that when he was launched, there was much talk that he too, would cut into Rush's audience. It never happened.

To me Huckabee is a good guy, basically conservative, and I think he will EXPAND the total audience for conservative talk radio, which is a good thinh..in that he may well attract a new audience..but I don't think Rush will lose any listeners..he has become a habit for people over all these years..

huckabee is just there to split conservatives up.

The DC homosexual enablers want the social and finacial issues to be seperate.

conservative is conservative is conservative. Social moderates are just fools playing the crying game in denial.

Agree or disagree?

Disagree. The premise is that other Conservatives are mad.

When he gave up the show he said there was too much on his plate and he wanted to concentrate on the TV show. Depending on whom you asked his show was either highly rated or
poorly rated, but I’m guessing it’s closer to the latter
and maybe it was just competition from Rush.

Oh and the latest from radio-info: Guess who the Huck
has as his first guest? The man he helped squeeze out
of the running in ‘08, Willard Mitt Romney.

...Rush’s show is caller driven.

I disagree. The show is Rush-driven and he doesn't take that many calls, preferring to hear his own conceited self.

I got to the point where I couldn't stand the man. You would disagree, I am sure. Different strokes for different folks.

Despite KLIF’s denials last week that it would carry the 3-hour Huck show and the hysteria by some here on FR that WBAP would drop Rush for the Huckster, KLIF started promoting Huckabee’s show today and have it in their program schedule. Huck’s first guest is... wait for it... “Moderate” Mitt Romney!

I feel for JD Hayworth, who took over Rush’s time slot on our local station KSFO. (This happened long before the Fluke deal) Naturally, the exodus of Rush listeners left a serious vacuum in terms of listeners. JD came in, and did however he did. JD is a smart, decent, well spoken guy who does sub-nothing for me as a talk show host. Just the way it is. Plus, it’s Rush I want to listen to. Huckabee might be better. Might. I don’t mind his little 2-minute snippets, but I tend to doubt he can cover a three hour slot. We’ll see. (my least favorite two words in the English language) I won’t see, Rush is my dude.

Yes, and in Prov RI WPRV 790 “Talk and Business” has him.
Not surprising—they’re owned by Cumulus (and also run
Don Imus, Dave Ramsey etc.)

Maybe you’re right in that; at the very least Rush doesn’t put a guest on and chat for an hour or so, and Smerc
is said to be doing that
