The Cold Fusion Ping List

Power Points and a ribbon for the best poster? What is this? A junior high science fair?

Interestingly enough, nobody from Asian giants such as China and India...
Not at all atypical. Done at many conferences, especially the smaller ones. Have you ever even BEEN to a technical conference??
Good news here. I have been searching for info from the NASA conference. I can't believe they didn't put out proceedings.
Really looking forward to hear what the interviewer has from Dr. Miley.
That's an insult to junior high science fairs.
Considering NASA's willingness to promote junk science these days it is surprising.
This looks like the usual hype from the cold fusion mutual admiration society for washed up scientists complete with references to the famous unnamed sources.
Well, if they can get three unnamed sources (Jones, Hansen and Mann) to vouch for it, who am I to doubt technological genius and pixie dust?
Consider a fourth - that much of what is being sold about LENR is snake oil and that is why it isn't getting much traction.
I'm willing to entertain the possibilities, but they have to be presented in something remotely resembling normal verifiable science and engineering. So far I have not been seeing that minimal standard met.
My my my, look at how the arguments have shifted. First is was all Rossi all the time. Rossi is a fraud, Rossi is a shyster, look at his criminal history.
Now that Rossi it out of the picture and others have taken the torch, now it’s morphed into the whole field is suspect now and it’s an ever growing conspiracy.
I’ll clue you in - YOU’RE the fraud. And a nutjob.
Truly not interested in the piss poor rantings of a conspiracy theory kook.
I'm also amazed that after thousands of posts of cold fusion hype that Kevmo still hasn't mastered HTML. (Look at the title. Forget HTML. He can't even copy and paste correctly.)
They awarded stuff more magnificent than t-shirts and ribbons ~ collection of gold and silver coins for example ~ and now they have become the agency for the Congress and MSM to trash for the next ten years.
Folks like the guys at NASA who run conferences will probably start by eliminating the doughnuts and chips, and certainly no tea service!
Those ribbons? Cherish them. There'll never be ribbons in the future ~ for anyone.
We had to pretend that Puerto Rico didn't exist for decades ~ just one conference, about 100 people, cheap hotel rooms, middle of a hot summer, and you'd thought we'd given away postage meters to street corner dope sellers.
When do you think we’ll get some solid info on this, is there going to be a final writeup after the conference on the 14th?
Is Prof. Francesco Piantelli’s device a Nickel-hydrogen electrolysis cell like the P&F device or is it more along the lines of Rossi’s device? They say that they have ‘cells’ that have run for long periods but I don’t understand if that means it’s a P&F type cell or is something missed in translation?
It’s interesting that he says he doesn’t need a catalyst in that it’s all in the preparation of the Nickel.
I’m can’t wait to see the results while we’re waiting on Rossi and Defkalion. Wasn’t Defkalion supposed to have had a big announcement already or did I miss it?
This is a nickel-hydrogen gas loaded cell, therefore not electolytic. That puts it in the same technology area as Piantelli, Rossi, and Defkalion.
"Its interesting that he says he doesnt need a catalyst in that its all in the preparation of the Nickel."
Indeed that "is" interesting.....I missed that detail.
"Im cant wait to see the results while were waiting on Rossi and Defkalion. Wasnt Defkalion supposed to have had a big announcement already or did I miss it?"
As I understand it, the Defkalion reviewers will report when they have all reduced and compared their data. I "think" I have seen somewhere that the projected time frame for that is later this month. As to Rossi......who knows.....even "he" probably doesn't.
Any news yet? Their web page hasn’t changed that I can see.
It would be nice to see working devices (and write-ups) for long periods with proper calorimetry done or at least decent measurements taken from the proper places.
It would also be cool to see the top COP as well as the lowest which the article mentions some are running at 2 but expect to run at a much higher COP after some optimization.
Rossi and Defkalion might find that they’ve been left behind if they don’t produce. In fact, didn’t Rossi ‘borrow’ Piantellis work? I hesitated to mention Rossi but he is the elephant in the room.
Please stop posting to me.

This will be my standard post to moonboy that says youre not worth trying to have reasonable discussion, also says buzz off & doesnt leave crickets. But if it offends you to the point that you get it removed like my prior innocuous citation then I’ll have to come up with some other ‘ignore button’ post.

This means I have nothing more to say to you about LENR. Bye.

Nope. We'll just have to execise patience.
"It would be nice to see working devices (and write-ups) for long periods with proper calorimetry done or at least decent measurements taken from the proper places."
Agree.
"It would also be cool to see the top COP as well as the lowest which the article mentions some are running at 2 but expect to run at a much higher COP after some optimization."
There are a number of efforts that have reached the COP > 2. Brilluoin (sp?) is one.
"Rossi and Defkalion might find that theyve been left behind if they dont produce.
I think they will be left behind in any event. I think using 100% (or close to) nickel will turn out to be very limiting. I think the Arata/Miley/others composite fuel (zirconium oxide/nickel or zirconium oxide/Pd) will prove to be superior, allowing higher run temperatures and cheaper fuel "elements" (especially in the case of PD).
"In fact, didnt Rossi borrow Piantellis work? I hesitated to mention Rossi but he is the elephant in the room.
In the sense that he (and Focardi) worked in the "gas-loaded nickel/hydrogen) area, yes. But he did introduce the idea of using nano-sized particles in place of Piantelli's nickel rods.
And both Rossi and Defkalion need to look over their shoulders.....there are other "elephants" coming up fast.
