I heard of sulphur tablets. I don’t believe I took them because all medicine tasted terrible when I was growing up so I know I would have remembered. So far, I think sulphur is a good thing to have on hand - especially in the South.
No, they were Sulfur and Cream of Tartar tablets. Apparently the Red Arrow company still makes them, and they’re supposed to help repel fleas and ticks; but we used to chew them to help repel mosquitos.
I remember them having a bit of a lemon taste. but it wasn't the taste so much as the chalkiness that was strange.
